Sometimes the opportunity to care for others leaves you feeling humbled and overwhelmed.....

As part of Homewatch CareGivers approach to care, we initiate weekly or bi-weekly calls to those that we serve to check in and make sure all is well.

These calls also help us identify any areas in which we can improve & to stay ahead of any issues which may impact the quality of care for those in our care.

Sometimes these calls are pretty quick, sometimes a bit longer, and sometimes they are the highlight of the week.

This week, Pauline called Martha to check in and wish her a happy birthday.

Martha's neice answered the phone and was initially a bit flustered at taking the call. Pauline politely asked to speak with Martha and wish her a happy birthday!

Martha celebrated her 99th birthday and besides her neice and our caregivers, Martha has limited interaction or communication with others.

Upon hearing Pauline wishing her a happy birthday, Martha was overwhwelmed at the gesture and the simple fact that Pauline called her and took the time to personally recognize her big day.

One simple act of love.

Acknowledging Martha' birthday.

Pauline described it as "the highlight of my day."

"Knowing that you have made someone' day a bit brighter and that they are smiling or feeling a bit better because of something you have done is incredible," said Pauline.

In our world of interacting with seniors and those in need, it's often the small things that make such a huge difference.

This attention to detail matters to all of us Homewatch CareGivers.

This is the level of care and attention your loved ones deserve.
