Meet Mike Sweeney, Certified Brain Health Coach and Co-Owner of OPTI Health Lake Norman
Mike Sweeney is a nationally recognized health coach who brings a rare blend of expertise, purpose, and heart to everything he does. As a Certified Brain Health Coach with advanced training in functional medicine and lifestyle medicine, Mike has dedicated his life to helping others heal from the effects of trauma, stress, and chronic illness. Whether it’s PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, inflammation, or burnout, Mike meets people where they are and helps them move toward lasting, meaningful change.
His journey began long before OPTI Health. As a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a former Naval Officer, Mike’s life has always been centered around service. That experience shaped not just his leadership style but his deep belief in showing up for others when it matters most. Today, as the co-leader of OPTI Health Lake Norman, he’s carrying that mission forward by providing those in need with science-backed, non-pharmacologic care that truly supports mind and body healing.
Mike’s approach is honest, straightforward, and deeply human. He doesn’t just hand out advice. He listens. He builds trust.
And, he partners with people to create a plan that works for their life, their story, and their goals.
He believes healing is possible, but it takes more than treatments. It takes connection. It takes understanding. It takes someone who genuinely cares.
At home, Mike lives out those same values. He and his wife Stacy have raised nine children, six through adoption, and now spend as much time as they can with their family and grandchildren. Their home is full of love, laughter, and purpose. Faith is the foundation of their lives and the compass that guides everything they do. Mike is always looking for ways to live with intention and love well.
That same heart is what he brings to every client who walks through the doors of OPTI Health. To Mike, this work is not just about wellness. It’s about giving people their lives back. It’s about hope. It’s about dignity.
And, it’s about helping others rediscover who they are... beyond the pain.
