When I wonder why I had to have PD, I have to go back and think about all of the wonderful new friends I have met, because of PD, I have to thank GOD for each one of you, and wish that none of us had to have experienced this thing in our lives, but we are all in this together, and it gives each one a friend we can lean on for support, as well as all of the GREAT volunteers, that give of their time.
Thanks for all who had a part in my surprise today!!!
Reggie
The volunteers at Rock Steady Lake Norman have a special bond. Every week we witness miracles together.
Yesterday Ken Noblezada and I were on either side of one of the boxers helping him while he stepped over boxing pads. He typically takes small steps and has a shuffling gait, a common symptom of Parkinsons. For most of this 3 minute exercise, he confidently took big strong steps and steadily lifted his feet over the pads. Ken and I looked at each other in disbelief and then proceeded to give the boxer our highest praises.
In those moments, all of life's troubles and stresses disappear and all that matters is helping someone to regain their ability to do something that they didn't think they could do again. It's those moments where miracles are happening and as volunteers, we get a front row seat!
J.T. Thanks for all you do for the PD community! Happy New Year.
