Breaking News in Women's Sexual Health🚨

The FDA has just approved Addyi® (flibanserin) for postmenopausal women, making it the first FDA-approved medication for low s*xual desire (HSDD) in both pre- and postmenopausal patients under 65.

This is a historic moment.
For countless years, millions of women with persistent, distressing low libido have had few evidence-based options. This approval closes a major gap in care and acknowledges what women have been saying all along: s*xual health matters at every stage of life.

Addyi is not Vi**ra. It’s a non-hormonal, daily medication that works on brain chemistry to improve s*xual desire, reduce distress, and improve quality of s*xual experiences

It's supported by the largest clinical trials in women’s s*xual health and over a decade of safety data.

This is progress women have waited far too long for.

This is the progress women deserve—and it’s long overdue.

Advocating for Our Nursing Workforce
At Ova Women’s Health, we believe in strengthening the future of women’s health by supporting the professionals who make that care possible — our nurses and advanced practice providers.

Recently, the Department of Education proposed a definition of “professional degree” programs that excludes nursing.
This is deeply concerning.

Nurses are the largest healthcare profession in the U.S., and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) play an essential role in filling care gaps, expanding access, and keeping our communities healthy — especially during ongoing staffing shortages.

Education access matters.
There are many pathways into nursing, and each one requires equitable access to strong educational programs and the full spectrum of federal student loans. Without this, we risk shrinking the workforce at a time when we need nurses more than ever.

We stand with nurses.
We join colleagues across the country in urging the Department of Education to revise the proposed definition of “professional degrees” to explicitly include nursing.

Nurses deserve recognition.
Nurses deserve support.
Our healthcare system depends on it.

GIANT STEP FORWARD FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH:

For years, the FDA-mandated black box warnings on low-dose vaginal estrogen products that created confusion and unnecessary fear for many women seeking relief from symptoms of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM)—including vaginal dryness, pain with in*******se, urinary discomfort, and recurrent UTIs.

Why was the black box warning removed?
1. The science has always been clear: low-dose vaginal estrogen is safe.
2. Vaginal estrogen cream works locally, directly on the vaginal and vulvar tissues. It does not raise estrogen levels in the bloodstream in any meaningful way.
3. Decades of research backed this up.
- Large studies over many years consistently showed the same thing: vaginal estrogen is one of the safest, most effective treatments in midlife medicine.
4. Leading medical organizations have said this for years.
- NAMS, ACOG, and ISSWSH all support the safety of low-dose vaginal estrogen, even for many women with a history of breast cancer (with oncology collaboration).

But here’s the truth: the warning never matched the science.
And now, the FDA has finally removed it!!!

This means:
* No increased risk of breast cancer
* No increased risk of endometrial cancer
* No increased stroke or blood clot risk
* No need for progesterone (for vaginal estrogen)

The old warning was based on data from high-dose systemic hormone therapy—not local vaginal use.

Without the fear-based labeling, more women can now:
* Make informed decisions without unnecessary anxiety
* Get access to one of the most effective tools in pelvic and s*xual wellness.
* Use vaginal estrogen and know it is safe for long-term use and can be tailored to your comfort and goals.

You’re supported by evidence-based, personalized care.

Midlife care shouldn’t feel scary, confusing, or stigmatized.
