The act of cupping is when a therapist places special cups on your skin for several minutes with the purpose of creating a suction, these cups can be made out of glass, earthenware, silicone and bamboo. There are different types of cupping (wet and dry) and involve putting a flammable substance such as paper, alcohol or herbs in the cup and setting it on fire. As the fire extinguishers, the therapist places it upside down on your skin and that’s when the suction occurs.
