The devastation of the Maui wildfires in Lahaina has left residents with unimaginable physical and psychological trauma. At least 1000 persons are still unaccounted for. It will likely take weeks for authorities to confirm the actual death toll, and it will take much longer for the community to heal.  

As part of Health-e-Charity’s commitment to respond to medical needs, our team performed a needs assessment by conducting several zoom sessions with numerous Maui-based medical and non-medical contacts to gauge what may be needed and, ultimately, how Health-e-Charity can help. At the same time, we started fundraising with the intent to purchase supplies and donate to boots-on-the-ground volunteer programs already doing amazing work in Maui, who need everyone’s support to keep going. Our recommendations:
1. Please donate to organizations that are currently doing the hard work in Maui.  Health-e-Charity is identifying and recommending donations to charities that donate at least 90% of the funds raised directly to supplies and persons in need.  
2. Health-e-Charity is using 100% of the funds we raise to directly support these Maui-based organizations. The funds will either be sent directly to these organizations, or they will be used to purchase supplies that will then be sent directly to these organizations. As always, Health-e-Charity uses 100% of its funds for missions, and none of the funds go toward the salaries of anyone within our organization.  
3. Preparations are underway (in coordination with clinics, hospitals, and healthcare leaders within Maui) to send supplies to the areas that need them most. We are prepared to send teams to provide in-person assistance should that need arise, but we will respectfully await our call from the people of Maui.
