A group of Hospice of the Sacred Heart employee volunteers helped assemble and package corsages and boutonnieres for local nursing home and hospice residents. The event hosted by the Shamrock Heart Foundation of Lackawanna County took place Friday, March 13th at Goodwill Industries in South Scranton.

LOSS OF A SPOUSE/PARTNER GRIEF EDUCATION PROGRAM

Part of our "Life Has Changed" grief education programs, this 6-week series (beginning Thursday, April 2 and running through Thursday, May 7) is open to anyone who has lost a spouse, partner or significant other and will help participants work through the pain of grief and towards effective coping skills. The group is support and education based and topics are tailored to this specific loss. Group meets six consecutive Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Pre-registration is required by calling 570-706-2400. This program is held at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart main office, 30 E.D. Preate Drive, Suite 108, Moosic, PA 18507.

Hospice of the Sacred Heart held their annual Social Work Lunch today at the main office in Moosic. Diane Baldi, CEO, Hospice of the Sacred Heart, welcomed the group of social workers, bereavement counselors and pastoral counselors and thanked them for being a part of the "invisible threads" that play such a vital role in the work done every day at Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

Dave Falchek, Executive Director at Serving Seniors, Inc., was guest speaker and explained Serving Seniors' role as a leader in advocating for and protecting vulnerable older adults in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Serving Seniors provides long-term care ombudsman services in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Wayne, and Wyoming counties, advocating for residents of skilled nursing and personal care facilities. In addition, the agency offers guardianship and power of attorney services, and serves as a patient advocate for older adults recently discharged from hospitals, particularly those with chronic or complicating conditions.

Hospice of the Sacred Heart CEO, Diane Baldi, appeared on Friday's edition of PA Live on WBRE-TV. Diane talked about National Heart Month, Social Work Month and our September Remembrance Walk.

Volunteers from Hospice of the Sacred Heart gathered at the main office in Moosic today for lunch and to learn about Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control and other related topics. Ann Seechock, Director of Volunteer Services, welcomed everyone and Diane Baldi, CEO, delivered an informative presentation.

Part of our "Life Has Changed" grief education programs, this 4-week series (beginning Wednesday, March 25 and running through Wednesday, April 15) is open to adult children who have lost a parent and are looking for various ways to cope with the responses of this unique grief. Activities completed are both group based and individual learning. Group meets four consecutive Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Pre-registration is required by calling 570-706-2400. Many of our Hospice of the Sacred Heart employees gathered in the main office cafeteria this morning for a staff meeting. CEO Diane Baldi brought everyone up to speed on strategic planning, staff changes and revisions to the admissions packet, among other topics.
