Hospice of the Sacred Heart held their annual Nurses Breakfast and Blessing of Hands today at the main office in Moosic. These events are tied to National Nurses Week being celebrated May 6 through 12.

Our annual "Remembering Mom" brunch was held this morning at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart office in Moosic. CEO Diane Baldi remembered her mother, Mary Ellen Flannery Beardsley, during a special and emotional presentation honoring and remembering all mothers living in our hearts.

Attendees were asked to bring toiletry items to the brunch. Items were assembled into gift bags that were then distributed to the WRC in Scranton and Domestic Violence Service Center in Wilkes-Barre. Peg Ruddy, Executive Director at WRC, spoke about the work they do providing comprehensive services for female and male victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking in Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties. Tammy Rodgers from the Domestic Violence Service Center spoke of her many years serving those most in need in Luzerne County.

The Hospice of the Sacred Heart family said an early "so long" to two of the best. Lori Kelly will be retiring as Director of Admissions to spend more time with family and Mike Catalano, Director of Inpatient Services, will be leaving to start his own physical therapy practice in Scranton. The two were honored with a luncheon today at the main office in Moosic. We wish them the best and hope to see them soon in a volunteer capacity.

Many of our treasured administrative professionals attended a lunch in their honor yesterday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart main office in Moosic. We couldn't do the work of advancing our mission without them.

Hospice of the Sacred Heart will continue our tradition of an interfaith memorial service. Our spring 2026 service will be held on Sunday, April 19 at Divine Mercy Parish, which is located at 312 Davis St in Scranton, PA. The service itself will be from 2 PM to 3 PM and then immediately following the service we will have the opportunity to gather together for light refreshments. There is off street parking available and the church is handicapped accessible. Please share these details with your family and friends.

Hospice of the Sacred Heart hosted a very well attended staff meeting this morning at the main office in Moosic. CEO Diane Baldi brought everyone up to date on scheduled events for April and some exciting new initiatives that the agency will experience in the coming months. Staff members enjoyed a delicious breakfast and took home some sweet treats for the Easter season.
