FirstLight is Now Welia Health

Welia Health (formerly FirstLight Health System) is an accredited hospital and clinic system serving East Central Minnesota. Our flagship facility is a newly renovated hospital and clinic campus Mora, with two other campuses in Pine City and Hinckley.

Fully accredited by the Joint Commission and a long-standing partner within the communities it serves, Welia Health is one of StarTribune’s Top Workplaces for seven years running—scoring in the high eightieth percentile on yearly surveys of our 500+ employees. We offer leading benchmarks in health metrics (recognized in 2019 for excellence in quality and safety by the Minnesota Hospital Association), attract top care teams (in 2019, a pharmacist became one of two in the world to hold Pharmacotherapy, Oncology, and Infectious Disease Board Certifications), and develop innovative partnerships like Kanabec county’s first year-round community wellness center. This reputation allows us to continue to attract providers in family medicine and specialty areas and improve care in remarkable ways.

Welia Health is also a teaching site for Rural Physician Associate Program (RPAP) students, it precepts Physician Assistant (PA) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) students, and its pharmacists serve as adjunct faculty for the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy. Medical students are welcomed for clinical educational experience in certified assistant, nursing, laboratory, radiology, health information, and nurse anesthetist programs.

Practice and specialty areas include, Family Practice, General Surgical Services, Rehabilitation (PT/OT/ACT/Respiratory Services & Speech-Language Pathology), Women's Health, Emergency Services, Sports Medicine, Urgent Care/Same Day Services, Community Pharmacies, Health Care Home, Optical Services, Birthing Center, Orthopedics, Imaging Services (including 3D Tomography and MRI), and a Community Wellness Center.
