Community Services for the Deaf

Community Services for the Deaf is a program Family Services. CSD offers many services for the Deaf, Hard of hearing and Deaf Blind Community.

Our mission; Partners In Strengthen Families and Communities through Counseling, Education and Advocacy. Since 1978, Community Services for the Deaf (CSD) has provided a wide variety of programs and services to meet the needs of people who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing. We offer interpreting, C-print, KODA camp, case management, prevention programs, community outreach and much more!

Our Story

Deafness and hearing loss affects an estimated 34 million people in the US. Since 1978, Community Services for the Deaf (CSD) has provided a wide range of programs and services to meet the needs of Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing or otherwise impacted by hearing loss. For many years, CSD has been a designated Community Center for the Deaf (CCD) to ensure access to training, support and communication services for Deaf, hard of hearing,

their families and others within the community.

Specialized services provided by CSD include:

Walk-In Services; Interpreting/Communication Services; Counseling and Case Management; Independent Living Skills Training; Information, Advocacy and Referral Services, ASL Classes, and other Specialized Training and Education Services. Services are available for the following counties: Montgomery, Preble, Darke, Mercer, Auglaize, Shelby, Miami, Logan, Champaign, Clark, Greene, Fayette and northern Warren.

Walk-In Service Hours: CSD offers open walk-in hours for many services, including community access to Videophone and other technology* as follows:

Main Office in Dayton: Every Wednesday 11:00am until 2:00pm 2211 Arbor Blvd, Dayton, Ohio 45439

Greenville Location (Darke County): 2nd Tuesday of Month: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Darke Co. Chapter American Red Cross 130 Martz Street, Suite 6, Greenville, Ohio 45331

Troy Location (Miami County): 3rd Monday of Month: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m at American Red Cross Office 1314 Barnhart Road, Troy Ohio 45373

Office hours may not be available on National holidays and during inclement weather! *Videophone and computer/internet access is only available at the main office location at this time.

No appointment is needed to receive walk-in assistance for information, advocacy and referral support. We can assist with understanding paperwork, filling out applications, making calls, answering questions, accessing resources, and much more.
