Failure may be the most misunderstood word in today’s culture. We’ve been taught that failure is a bad thing. That it’s something to be avoided., something to run from. From the beginning we are taught that red check marks, a wrong answer, not getting the correct answer the first time is a bad thing.
So much so that we’re afraid to start, to make a mistake, or try something new that may lead to what we were called to do.
Social media has only added fuel to the fire because we’re afraid to be caught doing something that isn’t correct or to have a moment in time captured where we weren’t perfect. We’ve been sold a lie that everybody’s life is better than ours and that everyone else is more perfect than us.
THIS COULDN’T BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!
The great lie of our generation and the next is that you never make mistakes. The truth of the matter is that God and failure are the secrets that everyone is looking for.
Starting and doing are the first steps to becoming great at something. The failure and lessons we learn while not being good at something is what eventually makes us great if we’re willing to fail and put ourselves out in the judgment of others. Expect people to make fun of you or say you can’t do what you wish to accomplish. If you persist, the people that labeled you a failure and made fun of you will come seek advice from you of how it is to do the things you did. Due to your experience, they will think you are now the expert.
The truth of the matter is the complete opposite of the lie you’ve been told. Those that are willing to fail and persist thru the struggle will learn and earn the skills it takes to be an expert in their field.
Therefore, we should imbrace failure and look to God and ourselves for acceptance and self worth as we navigate the skill or task that we wish to accomplish . Because failure is what makes us into the finished product that we wish to become.
