Evelyn Pearsall, 95, of Moravia, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026 at the Northwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Moravia following a long illness.
Evelyn was born on March 25, 1930 in the Bronx, NY to Harry and Catherine (Lupo) Milton. Her parents and her siblings, James, Helen and Robert, had all predeceased her, as did an infant son, her husband, a son-in-law (Reggie Blay) and a grandson (Matt Blay). Evelyn had married Kenneth Pearsall, Sr. on April 2, 1950 on Long Island and they had relocated to Moravia shortly after that. In Moravia they started their family, which includes Dottie Blay of Moravia, Kenneth (Mary) Pearsall, Jr. of Moravia and Webster (Heidi) Pearsall of Shortsville, NY. The family grew to include grandchildren: Nichole Blay-Justin, Kurtis Pearsall, Kasey (Nicole) Pearsall, Katie Pearsall and Kimberly (Ryan) Pearsall- Nolan and great-grandchildren: Nathan, LeRoy, Oliver, Luca, Everly, Everhett and Iris. All of her grandchildren were lucky to grow up just a short walking distance from Evelyn's home!
Evelyn absolutely loved being outdoors, tending to the yard, the extensive gardens, berry bushes and any animals being raised. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting - over the years she made a number of infant outfits that were donated to nurseries. Evelyn was an avid reader, especially enjoying western novels. She enjoyed baking two family favorites: Snickerdoodles and Half-moon cookies.
Evelyn was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Locke & Moravia and she had been a Girl Scout leader for several years. Evelyn had been employed as the Housekeeping Supervisor at Howd's Nursing Home for a number of years. After her retirement she provided part-time housekeeping services locally.
As per Evelyn's wishes, there will be no immediate services. A family gathering will be held in the summer.
Contributions may be made to the SNAP program in Cortland or to the CUMC camper ship fund.
My Mom was greatly loved by all of us and we will miss her terribly, but we know where she is and who she is with. God is great!
