The snow is just getting started so I set up the One Tigris Smokey Hut to have a hot tent available. The temperatures are low for us being in the teens currently with a windchill of negative 7 overnight. I do love this weather even though I am not really all that acclimated to it. Clothing choices today are critical. Minus 33 expedition weight base layer and a Lester River Bushcraft Anorak make being outside much more enjoyable in these conditions. To those getting snow today, have fun out there and stay safe.

Winter might slow things down in some places, but not here. Morehead City has been named the #2 winter fishing destination in the country for 2026 by FishingBooker — and it’s easy to see why.

Michaela “Michi” Benthaus thought her dream of becoming an astronaut ended with a devastating mountain biking accident that damaged her spinal cord and left her in a wheelchair.

But today, the European Space Agency aerospace engineer made history as the first person with paraplegia to cross the Kármán line, flying aboard Blue Origin’s suborbital New Shepard mission (NS-37).

Space for Humanity exists to democratize access to space, and we proudly celebrate this extraordinary milestone for accessibility and inclusion in human spaceflight.

The impact Michi is already having will resonate far beyond this moment, across both disabled and able-bodied communities, affirming that space is not reserved for a few, but is the birthright of us all.

“My precious…” said the fish, probably.

Back in 2021, a snorkeler noticed a sand mullet cruising around with a wedding ring stuck around its neck like a shiny little collar. Turns out, the ring belonged to Nathan Reeves, who had lost it while swimming at Emily Bay in Australia during Christmas.

Susan Prior, the snorkeler who spotted it, managed to track down the couple on Facebook and even helped organize a search party to carefully catch the fish and free it from its unexpected jewelry.

The poor mullet had no clue it was rocking a thousand-dollar accessory while just trying to mind its business. From ordinary fish to the ocean’s most accidentally “blinged-out” resident—it never even asked for the spotlight.

Proof that treasure shows up in the strangest places.
