Welcome to Carteret Clinic for Adolescents and Children. The clinic opened on July 5, 1978 and was the first pediatric practice in Morehead City. From a staff of one nurse and one receptionist, Dr. John Knelson moved and expanded his practice to accommodate the growing needs of the community. Today the office at 3510 John Platt Drive, which opened August 5, 2002, boasts a large professional staff dedicated to bringing the best possible pediatric care to the children of Carteret County, as well as hundreds of visitors each year, with a true "spirit of caring." Our Mission



Carteret Clinic for Adolescents and Children is a Christian ministry. We are dedicated to the proposition that the best quality medical care can and should be delivered in a friendly, pleasant environment with a true "spirit of caring." We believe this is possible only by seeking to care for all the aspects of disease in our patients, without regard for their race, color, religion, s*x, national origin, handicap, or monetary status, treating them all as God's children. We have a stewardship responsibility to use the gifts He has given us to participate with Him in the healing of body, soul and mind. To accommodate these beliefs, Carteret Clinic for Adolescents and Children has intentionally chosen the path of a service-oriented business. For instance, the hours of operation are designed to serve the needs of our patients, sometimes at an inconvenience to the staff. A member of our staff is always available, 24 hours a day, every day of the year, to provide medical advice. We never refuse to see a sick patient, and follow-up on patients is an accepted responsibility to ensure proper and complete medical treatment. Patients and their family or other caregivers are always to be treated with respect, understanding, and compassion. We attempt to encourage compliance with a patient' treatment plan through a comprehensive program of education for healthy living.

Delayed Opening for In-Person Visits Tomorrow - TeleMed Visits also Available

Carteret Children’s Clinic will be opening on a delayed schedule tomorrow, with acute sick visits beginning at 1:00 PM. Please send us a portal message to schedule. Our phones will be on at the office from 1-4pm as well.

✨ Routine/well care appointments will be rescheduled, and our team will reach out with next steps.

If you have an appointment tomorrow that you will not be able to make, please send us a portal message or call the office starting at 1:00 PM.

💻 We will also have TeleMed appointments available for patients who need to be seen but are unable to safely come into the office. Please send us a portal message if your child needs to be seen by TeleMed.

⚠️ Safety is our top priority. Please do not risk your safety trying to travel—your health and well-being come first.
