We’re proud to announce that Morehead 911 Dispatch can now receive 911 text messages—making us one of the few agencies in Kentucky with this capability!

This feature is especially helpful if you are:
🔇 Unable to speak
📵 In a dangerous situation where silence is crucial
♿ Deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired

📲 How to Text 911 in Rowan County:

Open your phone’s built-in text messaging app (not third-party apps).

Enter 911 in the “To” field.

Type a short, clear message with:

Your exact location

The type of emergency

✅ Keep in Mind:

Use plain language — no abbreviations or slang

Do not send emojis, images, or videos

You should receive a response within 20–60 seconds

Stay calm, answer follow-up questions, and follow instructions.
