Learn more about Hospice! People who train to be a Volunteer are always surprised with all the variables involved with hospice care and this podcast with one of our physicians Dr. G (Dr. Guidry) is very informative on all aspects of hospice. Enjoy!!

Volunteering in this past year of Covid has been a challenge but we have Volunteers here at Destiny Hospice who met that challenge any way they could. And many others who are eagerly waiting to be able to visit patients once again. As we celebrate Volunteer Week in America, let's think of the good we can do to help others! It's so much better then focusing on the bad stuff going on around us.

Sent to our Volunteers this Christmas!
IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!!!
The most wonderful time of the year…
Decorations went up early for the Yuletide of 2020, we all need celebration and joy after such a tough year. No one knows what 2021 will bring but there are a lot of things we DO know!
• Every person is important and ‘essential’.
• We can create our own happiness as many of us have learned to do through this past season! Simple things bring great joy when we slow down enough to enjoy them.
• Our focus doesn’t need to be on the things going on around us, our focus can be on the ones we love and what is important to them and us!
• Without hope, life itself seems impossible. Who or what are you putting your hope in?
• People will always need people. You can isolate, hibernate, differentiate between ‘essential’ and ‘non-essential’ but PEOPLE are always ESSENTIAL.
• Hold on to what’s really important, let go of what drains you.
• Life is more than texting, social media and emails. Call. Hear a voice. We live in a world of separations and never talking to people gives a degree of separation that isn’t good for anyone.
• It’s more than just about US. Reach out, find out what others are going through, what needs they have. When we give to others it actually nourishes OUR souls. Volunteers like you are known for that, now open that to the people in your lives, the ones you love.
• You should never give up. Don’t let go of YOUR essential needs or of your dreams. Find a way to make it happen.
• There is a plan and a purpose for every person. To copy a popular phrase, Live your purpose! (credit: CBU Riverside, CA)
• You are a small part of a bigger picture. A very special picture.
