From a tubal reversal patient, who is also our tubal reversal nurse!
My name is Torri Thomas, and I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and share a little about my journey.
I was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and moved to Morgan City in 1995 with my mother and brother, where I was raised and still proudly call home. For the past 15 wonderful years, I have had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Natchez Morice.
Family has always meant everything to me. Growing up surrounded by my grandmother’s large family filled with love, laughter, and support inspired me to want the same for my own children. Like many modern families, ours is beautifully blended, made up of children from different parental relationships, but every child is equally loved and cherished.
The beginning of 2023 was one of the most difficult seasons of my life. My stepmother suddenly passed away, and her loss deeply affected me. I found myself struggling emotionally and feeling alone, even when surrounded by others. But as mothers often do, I continued to push forward and take care of my family despite the pain.
I truly believe God entrusted women with carrying children because of the incredible strength, resilience, and love they possess. Women are often the foundation and support system of their families, even during life’s hardest moments.
Wanting to heal and move forward, my significant other and I decided last year that we wanted to add one more piece to our “Brady Bunch” family. To me, this felt like the missing piece my heart had been longing for.
After many conversations and careful consideration, we began discussing the possibility of a tubal reversal with Dr. Morice. At the time, I was 36 years old, had previously undergone an ablation, and also suffered from hypertension. The odds were certainly not in my favor. Still, I trusted Dr. Morice completely. He had delivered four of my beautiful children, and I knew if anyone could help guide me through this journey, it would be him.
Together, we developed a plan, and he stood beside me every step of the way.
On March 12, 2025, I underwent my tubal reversal surgery. Unfortunately, after surgery, we discovered my left fallopian tube was completely blocked due to extensive scar tissue buildup over the years. It simply was not going to recover. At that point, everything depended on my right tube. No pressure, right? But through it all, I never lost faith.
Then, just two months later, a miracle happened — I was pregnant.
There are few feelings in this world as emotional and overwhelming as seeing that positive pregnancy test after believing the odds were against you. In that moment, I felt whole again. I felt like myself again. Of course, I was nervous about what the future would bring, but I also knew I had an incredible doctor in my corner and faith carrying me through.
The reason I share my story is simple: I was once where many of you are now. I was searching for hope, for answers, and for another chance. So please, do not give up when the odds seem stacked against you. Do not lose faith. Miracles happen every single day.
Dr. Morice helps make those miracles possible for women like us — women who simply want another opportunity to grow their families and experience the joy of motherhood once again.
The best part of all is that not only was I once on the same journey many of you are beginning, but today I also have the honor of being part of your journey as well.
