🎙️ Speech Sounds & Your Child: What to Expect Ages 3–5
Between ages 3 and 5, your child’s speech and ability to produce new sounds is blossoming! Here's what to look for:
✅ Age 3: Your child can say many sounds like p, b, m, w, h, and may be understood by familiar people most of the time.
✅ Age 4: They're adding k, g, t, d, f and y, and are easier for most people to understand, even people that don’t know them well.
✅ Age 5: Your little one can say most of their sounds easily and can be understood almost all the time.
🎯 Tips for Parents:
Model clear speech, not correction.
Read together 📚—books build vocabulary and sound awareness.
Be patient: sound development takes time!
