The landlord said the space was available now.⁠

So with a little preparation and a lot of faith — we remodeled and created more room for our community to move.

Three months after taking over the studio, I was diagnosed with multiple tick-borne illnesses.⁠

That year, and the few following were incredibly hard. I had a toddler at home, a new business, and no clear path to getting better.⁠

But every day I had somewhere to be.⁠
People to serve.⁠
A community slowly forming.⁠

Around the same time, I began helping a Morgan Hill studio owner while she recovered from back surgery.⁠

A couple years later, she told me she was moving… and asked if I wanted to take over the studio.⁠

I had a young child, was dealing with health challenges, and had never run a business before.⁠

But the opportunity was there.⁠

Day 2 — My Pilates Story⁠

My path to Pilates actually started with dance.⁠

I danced my whole life — from the time I could walk, through college, performing for the Clippers, and later on a Holland America cruise ship, unknowingly being introduced to pilates through mat work throughout it all.⁠

It was on that cruise ship that I was first introduced to the Pilates reformer.⁠

A strange place to discover Pilates equipment… but maybe it was meant to be part of my story.⁠

When I returned from the cruise ship, I knew I wanted to learn more about Pilates — especially the rehabilitative side of movement.⁠

In 2009 I began my certification with Pilates Sports Center.⁠

Over the next several years I studied, practiced teaching with friends and family, and eventually began teaching classes at a gym.⁠

That’s when I discovered something important:⁠
I loved working in small, personal settings where I could really help people move better.

Every studio has a beginning.⁠

Morgan Hill Pilates started as Core Health Method under the ownership of Dorene, who built up the studio from the ground up. ⁠

In 2016 with just three reformers, spring boards and chairs, a lot of hope, and a belief that movement can change lives, Morgan hill Pilates was born. ⁠

Ten years later, we’re still here — growing, learning, and moving together.🤍

Ten years ago I said yes to something that felt equal parts exciting and terrifying — taking over a small Pilates studio in Morgan Hill.⁠

I had a toddler, was navigating my own health challenges, and had never run a business before.⁠

What I didn’t realize at the time was that it would grow into something so meaningful — a community built around movement, healing, and connection.⁠

Over the next 10 days, I’ll be sharing the story of Morgan Hill Pilates as we celebrate 10 years.⁠

In honor of March “Matness” here is my one rep flow through the classical order (with maybe a few mix ups).

This took a total of 10min and I had all the exercises written out in front of me for reference. 🤣

Your Pilates practice doesn’t need to be complicated. While I love the equipment and all it offers, sometimes the mat work is just what you need.

Exercise of the Week: Stomach Massage (Reformer Series)⁠

This powerful seated series targets core strength, internal connection, and coordination, all while exploring spinal flexion, extension, and rotation on the reformer. It’s a true mind-body challenge—and an incredible way to deepen your control and movement awareness.⁠

👉 Heads up: A bit of hamstring flexibility is needed to sit upright with your legs extended. But if you're not quite there yet, no worries! Last week’s exercises—Spine Stretch Forward, Saw, and Spine Twist—are perfect prep movements to build the mobility and control needed for this series.⁠

💬 Reminder: It’s always about progress, not perfection. Every step you take toward stronger movement matters!⁠
