Exercise of the Week: Stomach Massage (Reformer Series)⁠

This powerful seated series targets core strength, internal connection, and coordination, all while exploring spinal flexion, extension, and rotation on the reformer. It’s a true mind-body challenge—and an incredible way to deepen your control and movement awareness.⁠

👉 Heads up: A bit of hamstring flexibility is needed to sit upright with your legs extended. But if you're not quite there yet, no worries! Last week’s exercises—Spine Stretch Forward, Saw, and Spine Twist—are perfect prep movements to build the mobility and control needed for this series.⁠

Meet Janet and hear how Pilates has impacted her life. ⁠

"I have been a client at Morgan Hill Pilates since 2016 and can honestly say it has enhanced my life in more ways than I ever imagined.⁠

I am 64 years old and thanks to the amazing instructors at the studio, I am stronger, more flexible and toned than I was 9 years ago. Pilates has taught me how to breath properly, how to move correctly, improved my posture and become almost like meditation sessions in my busy life. It is 50 minutes for me to concentrate on using my body and mind to strengthen my core, calm my thoughts and start my day feeling ready to tackle anything. I have worked with both Julianne and Nikki, and they are so incredibly knowledgeable about how the body works that they can spot where I need to change a position in the smallest way or alter placement of my body to maximize each movement. My hips are more limber, my arms are more toned, and my core is definitely more defined than when I began Pilates!⁠

I will be a devoted Morgan Hill Pilates student for as long as my body lets me and as long as Julianne, alongside the other instructors, continue her excellent work!! Thank you MHP for helping make me the best version of myself!

Utilizing the apparatus, spring resistance and the goal to move the body in all directions, our workouts help improve everyday activities like lifting, bending, and balancing. Core strength remains a major focus, as it plays a critical role in injury prevention, posture, and overall mobility.⁠

More people are recognizing that recovery is just as important as their workouts, with an increased focus on breathwork, mobility exercises, and stress relief.⁠

Get stronger back and core muscles, and greater flexibility in the hamstrings and spine. No momentum here! Just plenty of strength and flexibility for a flowing movement.⁠

Despite the name, don't actually pull on the neck but use the hands behind the head to support the head and assist with abdominal connections!⁠
