We don’t talk politics unless it affects the optometry industry. But a major petroleum-based raw materials producer has initiated a “force majeure” clause for deliveries. That is “Latin” for “act of God” clause for why they can not keep their end of an agreement to deliver materials. Lenses are a petroleum-based product and global political events has resulted in a bottleneck for petroleum-based products. We will keep our communication channels open with our patients and we estimate wait times for glasses may increase.

The uncut lens comes from the lab in a circle. Instead of putting it directly into our edger, we manually rough shape some of our lenses. Why do we do this? We rather not say. We are confident not many offices are doing this and we rather keep our engineering edge.

If you need Rx lenses in your Ray-Ban stories glasses, we can do that. Here is a patient’s own frame they brought in. We left the protective sleeves on the temples to protect them while we installed the lenses.
