On October 1, 2021, we became UNC Health Blue Ridge and joined the UNC Health family.

Blue Ridge includes hospitals in Morganton and Valdese, Phifer Wellness Center, Grace Ridge Retirement Community, and the Blue Ridge Medical Group of physician practices.

PETALS stands for Performing Exceptional Tasks and Lending Support and is given to outstanding nursing assistants. Caitlin’s nomination said she stayed after hours to accompany an anxious patient to the operating room. Thank you, Caitlin, for going the extra mile.

🎁Spreading Holiday Cheer at UNC Health Blue Ridge!🎁

Our amazing teammates came together to make the season brighter for Burke County Public Schools students in need. From purchasing gifts to wrapping them with care, and finally delivering them to local schools — this is what community and compassion look like!

Weather Advisory: Parking Update for Morganton Campus

Due to potential icy conditions in the morning, upper deck parking at UNC Health Blue Ridge Morganton Campus will be closed starting tonight (12/8) at 9:00 p.m. and remain closed tomorrow (12/9). If conditions improve throughout the day, the upper deck will be reopened.

Patients using the lower parking deck can access the hospital and medical office building through their lower-level entrances.

Last spring, a patient at UNC Health Blue Ridge was so anxious she nearly left without a procedure, one that would diagnose and treat her cancer. A caring conversation with a teammate gave her the courage to stay, and that decision saved her life.

Last week, she called that same teammate with a surprise: her car was packed with 74 hats, 21 scarves, 8 ear warmers, and 5 blankets she had crocheted during recovery! She had already donated dozens to veterans and wanted these to comfort patients in need.

Her words: “I haven’t slept in years because of PTSD. Now I stay up making these things and thinking about the people who will wear them. I want to give back every day because my life was saved here.”

This is what hope looks like, and what healing inspires.

Congratulations to our latest DAISY Award winner, Maddy Hammet, RN! She was nominated by a woman whose mother had been admitted with a stroke.

The nomination said, "When I arrived, this nurse was sitting by my mother’s side holding her hand. This nurse made me feel emotionally safe. She consistently kept me informed about my mother’s care. This nurse’s passion and caring for patients didn’t go unnoticed."
