We say farewell to 2025 and all the memories we created here at Brighter House. This year, we purchased a new van, increased our culinary repertoire, had some great outings, and grew together at a clubhouse.
We said goodbye, and opened our arms to members in the community who needed our services.
We are happy to celebrate another year being a part of the Morganton community ❤️
Brighter House members and staff would like to extend a thank you to our donors and services that helped us get to where we are today.

Good Evening Brighter House Colleagues, and Merry Christmas,

We unfortunately will NOT be open for tomorrow, Friday, December 26th. This is due to multiple staff absences from illness, resulting in unforeseen lack of staff coverage.

We intend to be back open to normal operating hours on Monday, December 29th.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and thank you for your flexibility.

Merry Christmas from Brighter House!

During yesterdays Christmas Party at the clubhouse, a clubhouse member shared a quote that resonated with many members about this holiday season:

“A Christmas wish for those with mental illness centers on gentleness, understanding, peace, and connection, hoping for a season where they feel seen, not judged, find small moments of comfort, know they're loved even in isolation, and receive practical support like accessible mental health care and a compassionate community, allowing them to heal and feel worthy of joy.”

May we continue to do so in the new year.

Thanks to a recent grant we received by NC DHHS, we have purchased a brand new 15-passenger van for the clubhouse!

Today, we were able to take it on its maiden voyage to Bo's Entertainment in Lenoir for a bowling outing. Even though the weather was poor, we all had a blast.

Yesterday, we had a surprise Health Department inspection, and I’ll be honest, we were all a little nervous. But I’m proud to share that Brighter House received a perfect Superior rating.

As the director, I could easily shine the spotlight on our staff or take some of that credit myself. However, the biggest thanks belongs to our members. They are the ones who take care of their clubhouse every single day. They clean, organize, cook, work side by side, and treat this space like it truly belongs to them.

To some, a simple inspection may not seem like a big deal. But to me, it represents something deeper. It shows that we’ve built a place where members have ownership and pride, and where responsibility is shared and growth is visible in the little things.

This was not just a perfect score. It was a major win for our community, and I’m incredibly proud of what our members accomplish every day.

Good Evening Brighter House Colleagues,

In correlation with Burke County Public Schools, we will be operating on a 2-hour delay for Tuesday, December 9th. Member hours will be from 10am - 3pm.

If you are scheduled to be picked up in the morning, we will be doing pickups between 10am-11am. Please be on the lookout for us.

Burke County Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students and staff on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, due to below-freezing temperatures and possible icy roadways. We will continue to monitor weather conditions. A grab-and-go breakfast will be available. The YMCA before-school program will operate on a 2-hour delay as well.
