🧡 October is Spina Bifida Awareness Month 🧡

At Mountain View Pediatrics, we stand with the incredible children, families, and caregivers affected by Spina Bifida—a condition that impacts the spine and nervous system from birth. Every journey is unique, and every story is a testament to resilience, courage, and love.

This month, we honor the strength of our patients and celebrate the advances in care, advocacy, and inclusion that help every child thrive. 💪

Let’s raise awareness, share knowledge, and continue building a community where every child feels seen, supported, and empowered.

🌍💚 Today is World Mental Health Day 💚🌍

At Mountain View Pediatrics, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health—and that every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and seen.
This year’s theme is “Mental health is a universal human right.”

We’re committed to fostering open conversations, reducing stigma, and helping families access the care and resources they need.

🧠 Mental wellness starts early
💬 Listening matters
🤝 Support makes all the difference

Whether it’s a quiet check-in or a big conversation, today is a reminder: you’re not alone, and your feelings matter. Let’s keep building a community where every child—and every caregiver—can thrive.

🎗️ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️

At Mountain View Pediatrics, we stand in solidarity with every patient, family, and caregiver impacted by breast cancer. Though our focus is pediatric care, we know that awareness starts early—and that healthy families are built on education, empathy, and support.

💗 We wear pink to honor the fighters, the survivors, and the ones we’ve lost.
💗 We share knowledge to empower future generations.
💗 We believe in the strength of community—because no one should face cancer alone.

This month, we encourage our families to talk openly, ask questions, and support the incredible women in their lives. Early detection saves lives. Awareness builds hope.

Mountain View Pediatrics, P.A. is pleased to announce its selection as one of eight recipients for grant support from The Industrial Commons, in partnership with Trust for Civic Life, through the Civic Hubs Business Grants program. This funding will enable us to facilitate greater community engagement, collaboration, and development.

Rural areas often experience limited access to investment; therefore, we are honored to participate in this initiative, which provides rural organizations and businesses with the resources needed to develop innovative projects and implement their ideas.

This grant marks a meaningful step forward in our commitment to serving families in Burke County and beyond—not just through clinical care, but by investing in the health and wellbeing of our entire community. With this support, we’ll be launching new efforts to connect, educate, and empower local families through accessible programming and strategic partnerships.

📣 Stay tuned for details on Mountain View Pediatrics’ upcoming initiative: Operation Kids Health—a dynamic project designed to promote pediatric wellness, strengthen community ties, and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

🚗🧸 Child Passenger Safety Week is here!

At Mountain View Pediatrics, your child’s safety—on and off the road—is always a top priority.

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on car seat safety to help protect our littlest travelers. Did you know that proper installation and fit can make all the difference in a crash? Many car seats are used incorrectly, even by the most well-meaning caregivers.

✅ Check your child’s seat for:
• Correct size and fit for their age and weight
• Proper installation in your vehicle
• Secure harness placement and snugness

Need help? We’re happy to connect you with certified technicians or resources to make sure your “Bear Cub” is riding safely.

Let’s buckle up and spread the word—because every ride should be a safe one. 💙

📞 By Appointment Only

This special clinic is designed for urgent sick visits only—no well checks or routine follow-ups during this time. If your child isn’t feeling well and needs to be seen after hours, we’re here to help.

🇺🇸 September 11th: We Remember 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor the lives lost, the heroes who rose, and the resilience that carried our nation forward. At Mountain View Pediatrics, we remember the families forever changed and the first responders who ran toward danger with courage and compassion.

Though years have passed, the legacy of unity, service, and hope remains. We are grateful for the strength of our community and the privilege to care for its youngest members—knowing that each child carries the promise of a brighter future.

🕊️ May we continue to teach kindness, live with purpose, and never forget.

🟣💚 September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month 💚🟣
At Mountain View Pediatrics, we’re joining the national conversation—because pediatric mental health matters.

Suicide is now the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10–14 and 3rd for ages 15–19. These numbers are heartbreaking. But awareness saves lives.

💡 Know the warning signs:
• Withdrawing from friends and family
• Changes in eating or sleeping habits
• Mood swings or reckless behavior
• Dropping grades
• Increased use of alcohol or drugs
• Giving away belongings
• Talking about hopelessness, feeling trapped, or being a burden
• Expressing suicidal thoughts—or writing/drawing about suicide

If you notice these signs, don’t wait. Help is available 24/7.
📱 Call, text, or chat the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: 988
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Teens can also connect with a peer mentor through Somethings.com—a free, confidential resource supported by NCDHHS.

💜💚 The colors of suicide prevention are teal and purple—symbols of hope, healing, and connection.
Let’s wear them proudly. Let’s talk openly. Let’s remind every child and teen:
You are not alone. You are loved. Help is here.
