Coca-Cola Consolidated provides generous financial support to help keep our center fully staffed and serving child victims of abuse with medical care, therapy and the support they need to heal.

They surprised us by also replenishing our stuffed animals, each one given to a child who walks through our doors, offering comfort when it’s needed most. 🧸 We can't thank them enough for this contribution.

Only about 1 in 3 cases of child abuse are ever identified and reported to authorities.

Why don’t children report?
🔹 Afraid no one will believe them
🔹 Feel ashamed, guilty, or confused
🔹 Threatened or scared by the abuser
🔹 Care about or trust the abuser
🔹 Don’t realize it was abuse

❤️ Today, we commemorate Juneteenth—a powerful reminder of freedom delayed, justice pursued, and the resilience of generations. We carry this spirit forward every day through our work with children impacted by abuse, neglect, and trauma.

💛 Many of the young lives we serve have experienced deep injustices. Our mission is to ensure their healing, amplify their voices, and help break the cycles that have held them back for too long.

💚 This Juneteenth, we recommit ourselves to building a world where every child, regardless of race, background, or circumstance, can grow up safe, loved, and free.

We hit the road (and the sand!) for the Children's Advocacy Centers of North Carolina Seaside Symposium in Myrtle Beach, and we didn’t just bring sunscreen, we brought our A-game!

The best part? Time to connect with our incredible team from across the state, soak up some sun ☀️, and grow stronger together for the kids we serve.

🌞 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫.

As school lets out and routines shift, children may spend more time in new environments, such as camps, childcare, with extended family, or unsupervised online. These transitions, while often fun, can also increase risk factors for abuse.

🏖️ Know who your child is with: trust is earned, not assumed.
🏖️ Ensure open communication: encourage kids to tell you how they feel and what they experience.
🏖️ Encourage body safety: remind children that they are the boss of their bodies.
🏖️ Watch for behavior changes: sudden shifts in mood, sleep, or social behavior could be red flags.
