The Truth About Wellness Educating, Encouraging and Empowering the Body of Christ &
Communities with the Truth About Wellness
jackiemckool.com

The Truth About Wellness was developed to educate communities on their options when it comes to their health. There is a True, natural, whole-fistic approach to restoring the body back to good health, that is quite contrary to the conventional way we have been taught (how's that been working for us?!), that most people are not aware of. My heart and passion is to shed light on these Truths, bring

encouragement to others that there truly is hope and empower them to take control of their health. This is done through webinars as well as live workshop events. Other tools I offer to communities are coaching and health consulting. I utilize bloodwork (interpreted whole-istically), hormone testing, heavy metal testing, detoxing, nutrition consulting, digestive analysis, hidden food sensitivity testing and much more to assist the patient back towards optimum health. Please contact me if you want to learn about webinars & seminars, would like one-on-one coaching and/or consult with me for specific health challenges -- I would love to help!

“Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them accordingly: if [someone has the gift of] prophecy, [let him speak a new message from God to His people] in proportion to the faith possessed; if service, in the act of serving; or he who teaches, in the act of teaching; or he who encourages, in the act of encouragement; he who gives, with generosity; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy [in caring for others], with cheerfulness.” (Romans 12:6-8 Amp).

In case you are not yet convinced that you have a purpose, or how you spend your time matters, I’d like to continue delving a little more into Romans 12 and what the Bible says about how we use our time. But before I do, you might be thinking to yourself “what in the heck does all of this have to do with my health Jackie?” And I can appreciate that – you might be feeling like we have gone down a “spiritual” rabbit trail, never to return to the basics of health! So let me go back to the foundation of our health for a moment.

Are You Spending Enough Time in Community?

“For just as in one [physical] body we have many parts, and these parts do not all have the same function or special use, so we, who are many, are [nevertheless just] one body in Christ, and individually [we are] parts one of another [mutually dependent on each other].” (Romans 12:4-5 Amp)

Those of you who know me would probably have me pegged as an extrovert, a people person, you are correct. But… I am also very much an introvert. This doesn’t mean I’m a shy person (which is probably why you have me pegged as an extrovert!), but simply that I get energized during my alone time. In fact, spending too much time around a lot of people for any length of time actually drains my energy. Not that I don’t enjoy my time in the moment, but simply that I need recharging after these social times. I have been known to say “a good weekend is when my car never leaves the garage!”

Couple this personality type with me being a single woman, and my alone time could very easily lend itself to isolation; and if I’m not conscious of this, it could even feed into moments of feeling blue and depressed. And these moments are a great feeding ground for me to throw a big ol’ pity party for myself. And who doesn’t love a good pity party every once in awhile! (sarcasm here!)

While there is nothing wrong with alone time, especially if that alone time is really not spent alone, but with Jesus, community and connection with others is just as important. I know, for myself, I need to be conscious of not falling out of balance in my emotional health in this arena, maybe you do too? Let’s pick back up where we left off in Romans 12, and take a look at what the Bible says about community and connection.

Our Time and Our Purpose

“… so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].” (Romans 12:2b AMP)

I believe that knowing we have a purpose, and knowing what that purpose is, is a vital foundational principle to achieving optimum wholistic health and balance in our lives. And the true place that purpose comes from is from God. And the purpose I’m talking about is specifically ordered from Him – not from ourselves, not from our family, not from our employer or bank account, or even from our pastor – but from Him. It’s not necessarily fulfilled in the career or work we do – although it can be. On the flip side, just because you are not standing behind a pulpit in a church every Sunday morning doesn’t mean you don’t have a purpose or that you are not fulfilling it. This most likely is not your purpose – only a few are called to that purpose. But your purpose still matters just as much. In fact, it’s vital to not only God, but to the rest of the body of Christ. Think of yourself and your purpose as just one cell, out of all the trillions of cells in our body at any given time. While it might seem small and insignificant, if just that one cell in our body is not functioning, the body is out of balance. It matters, as do you.

Do Not Be Conformed to This World

Let’s pick up where we left off last week in the series on “What the Bible Says About Time” and how it affects our wholistic health, and how it comes into play with our purpose...

The true place that purpose comes from is from God.

“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.” (Romans 12:1)

Time is like money, it should be budgeted and spent wisely. In fact, time is a greater treasure than money – if you lose money, you at least have the ability to earn it back – whether it be through work or wise investing. But time? No matter how hard we try, time cannot be recouped – in fact, the more we try, the more time is wasted. Sadly, like money, poor time management, and what we spend our time on, almost seems to be a crisis in epic proportions these days. Almost any conversation I enter into with someone as it pertains to their health and their life, the challenge of “not enough time” or “I’m too busy” seems to come up.

I would like to “spend some time” over the coming weeks taking a look at what the Bible says about time, and how and where we might spend it. [Read More...]

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV)

I am a big picture person, but we seem to live in a world of sound bites these days. My hope is that this month’s newsletter and blog will bring you GOOD NEWS by sharing the greater picture of hopeful changes coming down the pike as it applies to our health!

While our own health choices certainly are the key to the level of health we each uniquely experience, we also unknowingly have forces working against us, manipulating and controlling us, countering our greatest efforts for health.

It is now official that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is our Country’s new Secretary of Health & Human Services. While this is a huge department – he will oversee 13 departments under his leadership – a lot of these can have direct and even indirect impact as it relates to our health wholistically – in a positive way.

Each time I listen to RFK, Jr. share his vision, my heart gets excited that there is now someone in a major leadership position that not only cares about wholistic health, but has the intelligence and backing of our current administration – president, house and senate (at least the majority) – to implement those changes. He has had a vision of this for many years. This is good news! It’s a new day!

I would like to share with you more insights in what I believe is getting ready to take place in our Country as it pertains to our health...

Should Christians Take Care of Their Health?

“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.” (Romans 12:1 Amp)

At a recent church service, the pastor was making a point that we can’t take our money with us when we die, and he used different examples of how we might be spending our money – material things in particular. And I agree, our focus should be on the temporal, not the material. But one of his examples he threw out was “no amount of money in the world can buy good health” – another words, we are still going to leave this earth no matter how much we invest in our health while we are here (unless Jesus comes first of course!). And I understood the point he was trying to make. But… there were an awful lot of “Amens” after he made this statement. Perhaps I was reading too much into this collective chorus, but it was almost like there was great enthusiasm from the congregation, like they were thinking out loud – “yeah, it’s ridiculous to spend money on your health, who needs it, I’m going to do whatever I’m going to do, I’m going to eat whatever I want to eat, to heck with my health, I’m going to die anyway, may as well live it up while I can!” I don’t know, maybe I was reading too much into this.

However, as Christians we need to wake up to the truth of how our bodies work and take authority with our health the way God intended. Just as we should not gamble by waiting until we are old to surrender our lives to Jesus, thinking there will be plenty of time, neither should we disregard the responsibility of taking care of our health because “we have to die of something.” This is a reckless attitude to take for both – our spiritual health as well as our physical. Here are some thoughts to ponder this week in regard to whether we as Christians should take care of our health.

Should Christians Take Care of Their Health?

“Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall”. (Proverbs 16:18)
But…
“The reward for humility and fear of the LORD is riches and honor and life.” (Proverbs 22:4)

Allow me to be the first to say that I certainly have exhibited pridefulness more than once in my life – in fact, many times, I’m sure. One internet search revealed the definition of “prideful” as “having an excessively high opinion of oneself.” However, we can display prideful behaviors in other ways as well. For me it would come more from a place of defensiveness, not wanting to admit I was wrong – especially if someone called me out in a way that caused me embarrassment or even shame. My go to response was, and can still be, a rejection of the truth from a default position of pride.

Continuing with our foundation for this year’s blog posts — the Bible, Truth, and Jesus as our guide and example — and as they apply to our health and healing, let’s peel back some layers of the onion to see if the root of pride might actually be blocking your healing.

How Fear Can Sabotage Your Health

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

In 2018 I met my match with fear as I was unexpectedly faced with 65 mph winds when I broke tree line on top of Mt. Madison on the Appalachian Trail – I truly thought I was going to die. I am generally not a fearful person, but this event certainly took my fear meter to whole other level! But it also allowed me to face future scary situations with greater confidence as I learned to place my trust and faith more in God.

We all fear something, just to lesser or greater degrees than others, or other things. What do you fear? Snakes. Animals. The loss of a child. Cancer. Fear of dying a painful death. Maybe fear of your own emotions, financial loss – the list can be endless really.

The words “fear not” or similar such phrases appear almost 100 times in the Bible – that’s a lot of reminders! Staying with our foundation for this year’s blog posts, the Bible, Truth, and Jesus as our guide and example, I would like to take a look today at “fear” as it pertains to our wholistic health, especially how it could sabotage it – most likely unknowingly.
