12 Months of Needs 💙

This month, our Child Life team is highlighting coloring books 🖍️

We use coloring books for all ages, styles, and interests to help patients cope with stress, express emotions, and find moments of normalcy during their hospital stay. Having a variety allows us to meet each child where they are.

Some of the coloring books our patients love include:
• Favorite characters (Disney, superheroes, Bluey, Pokémon)
• Animals, dinosaurs, and vehicles
• Sports, space, and nature themes
• Calming and mindfulness-style coloring

You can support our Child Life team by shopping our Amazon Wishlist and helping bring comfort and creativity to patients when they need it most.

🏠 Home safety starts with small, everyday choices.

Even everyday vitamins, flu medicine, or pain relievers can become dangerous if they’re easy for children to reach. Keep all medications and vitamins out of sight and locked away, and leave clear instructions for caregivers about what medications children take, when, and in what dosage.

🛁 Bathroom: Always supervise children. Toilets, tubs, and sinks filled with water can be hazardous, and wet floors can quickly become slippery.

🛏️ Bedroom: Babies should sleep on their backs in their own crib or pack-n-play. Room sharing is safer than bed sharing. Use a firm mattress with a fitted sheet and keep cribs free of toys and soft bedding.

🪜 Stairs & Windows: Install approved safety gates at the top and bottom of stairs and properly secure window and door locks. Guide new crawlers and walkers as they use furniture for balance.

🍽️ Kitchen: Store sharp objects and fragile dishes in locked cabinets. Use cabinet locks for cleaning products and chemicals. Make sure smoke detectors are working, and have fire and carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your home.

A safer home helps protect curious kids as they grow and explore. 💙

Making waves for a great cause! 💙

The WVU Swimming & Dive team dove in to support WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s with a Duck Toss fundraiser, and our hearts melted seeing the seniors rock T-shirts designed by our patients during their meet.

Thank you for turning creativity, compassion, and competition into something truly special! 🦆✨

12 Months of Needs: New Infant Sleepers & Onesies (0–12 Months) 👶💙

This month, our Child Life team is highlighting a simple but essential need—new infant sleepers and onesies in sizes 0–12 months.

Many of the babies we care for arrive unexpectedly or stay longer than planned. Families may not have access to clean, comfortable sleepers and onesies during their hospital stay. That’s where Child Life steps in.

Soft sleepers and onesies help:
• Keep babies warm and comfortable
• Support medical care and recovery
• Provide dignity and reassurance for families
• Offer a sense of normalcy during stressful moments

You can help our smallest patients feel safe, cozy, and cared for by shopping our Amazon Wishlist below.
