Members of WVUH Specialty Pharmacy & Home Infusion had the opportunity to attend the NHIA 2026 Annual Conference in Denver, a leading event in the home infusion industry.

Throughout the week, our team connected with peers from across the country, explored the latest innovations from more than 150 exhibitors, and engaged in forward thinking discussions around clinical care, operations, and the evolving healthcare landscape.

From interactive education sessions to hands on learning experiences and meaningful networking opportunities, the conference provided valuable takeaways that will help strengthen how we support our patients and partners.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and bring new ideas back to our department as we continue to advance patient care. Looking forward to what is ahead.

Great conversations and even better company 🍕💊

We had the pleasure of hosting the WVU School of Pharmacy class on site at WVUH Specialty Pharmacy & Home Infusion for a panel discussion and open Q&A. It was a meaningful opportunity to bring pharmacists and students together to talk through career paths, share real-world experiences, and offer honest insight into the profession.

Opportunities like this are a great reminder of the importance of mentorship and connection as we help shape the next generation of pharmacy professionals. And of course, good conversations are even better with pizza, cookies, and drinks.

This Earth Day, we’re proud to share how WVUH Specialty Pharmacy & Home Infusion is making a difference one delivery at a time. 🌎💚

Ever wonder how your refrigerated medications arrive safely at your door while still being environmentally conscious?

In 2021, we made it a priority to reduce our carbon footprint without compromising the integrity of temperature sensitive medications. That’s when we introduced LiON coolers, portable lithium ion battery powered refrigeration units equipped with backup power and external temperature alarms.

Since adopting this green solution, we have reduced landfill waste from traditional packaging materials, helped patients cut down on packaging disposal at home, and improved efficiency across our pharmacy operations.

We still use traditional packaging when necessary, but LiON coolers allow us to safely and sustainably deliver refrigerated medications from our doors to yours.

Yesterday, Samuel Casey Yokum, PharmD, MBA, Director at WVUH Specialty Pharmacy & Home Infusion, had the opportunity to speak with students at West Virginia University during a School of Pharmacy elective lecture.

During the session, Casey shared insights into the evolving landscape of specialty pharmacy, highlighting the critical role it plays in improving patient outcomes, expanding access to complex therapies, and adapting to ongoing changes in healthcare delivery. Students gained a deeper understanding of industry trends, innovation in care models, and the importance of integrated health system specialty pharmacy programs.

Louis Sokos, Assistant Vice President of WVUH Specialty Pharmacy & Home Infusion, has been a key leader within our organization since joining in September 2007. In May 2012, he helped launch our Specialty Pharmacy program and has played an instrumental role in its growth, evolution, and continued success.

His leadership has helped shape a program focused on delivering high quality, patient centered care while supporting providers across our communities.
