On Thursday, October 9, 2025, Selection Class 016 was conducted. The day began with four applicants for the Operations Division and one applicant for the Special Operations Medical Service Unit. This selection marked the first instance in which personnel returned to complete the process, an accomplishment achieved by two of the applicants in Class 016. Unfortunately, one applicant did not meet the minimum standard and was subsequently removed from the application process.

With great honor, Commander Dietz and Deputy Director Nelson would like to welcome the newest members to Northern Kentucky Special Weapons and Tactics, Inc.

• Joseph Paolucci, SWAT Officer, Fort Thomas Police Department
• John Bright, SWAT Officer, Campbell County Police Department
• Cody Monson, SWAT Officer, Independence Police Department
• Sean Callero, SOMS Tactical Medic, Newport Fire/EMS

All four applicants successfully exceeded the required threshold of 510 points (out of a possible 600) to achieve the minimum qualification standard. The evaluation process encompassed multiple components, including the NKY SWAT Physical Fitness Qualifier, primary and secondary weapons qualifications, policy and procedure assessments, and various fi****ms range evolutions. Additionally, each applicant participated in a series of physical fitness challenges designed to assess their strength, stamina, agility, and ability to operate effectively as a team under both mental and physical stress.
