Did you know the average brain can have around 60,000 thoughts a day? Of your roughly 60,000 thoughts, 80–95% of them are repeated.
Most of us are thinking about the same things over and over again.
This might not come as a surprise to you, but about 80% of most people's thoughts are negative or lies.
We all meditate (or think) on something—good or bad: the scary things happening in the world, an upcoming celebration, wondering if our kids are happy and healthy, saving enough for retirement, and so on.
What we think about matters.
If we think about something sad or scary over and over again, we will cause ourselves to be depressed, anxious or angry.
Maybe it makes you sad to just think about that—I get it, but you want to know something encouraging? God tells us through Romans 12:2 that we can “be transformed by the renewing of [our] mind.”
We can change the way we think!
When we take hold of our thoughts, we can change them and think (or meditate!) on something new.
Christian mediation is about giving God space to fill your mind with His love and truth. We've shared a few meditations here and there at Faithful Workouts over the years, but I've been wanting to make this a regular habit.
