We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the University of Minnesota, Morris students who used their Labor Day to help us clean and polish tack, wash horses, and clean outbuildings. These young people were out washing horses in the middle of a sudden downpour, and were all joy and smiles the entire time! Thank you all for your selfless service and love for our four-legged friends!

Wondering how you can support our foundation? Financial gifts are vital, but there are many other ways to help:

1️⃣ Spread the word—share our posts and tell friends, family, and coworkers about us.
2️⃣ Volunteer—our day-to-day depends on committed weekly helpers.
3️⃣ Pitch in on service projects—tack cleaning, bucket scrubbing, grooming, and barn care are always needed.

WEDNESDAY HIGHLIGHT—Mane Event

This month's featured horse is our Haflinger gelding, Frosty! As quirky as he is majestic, Frosty wins hearts everywhere he goes with his big horsey kisses and his steady, unshakable nature.

Most days you’ll find Frosty giving rides to our volunteers and more experienced students, but he also has a very special job—carrying the adaptive saddle that helps clients with limited mobility enjoy the magic of horseback riding. He’s a pro at reading the room: sassy and stubborn with experienced riders, yet gentle and steady with clients who need extra support.

Nothing cheers us up quite like a Frosty nuzzle, and nothing makes our clients laugh harder than his toothy grins when there are treats involved. We sure do love our Frosty boy!

If Wishes Were Horses serves children and adults in Stevens County and surrounding areas who have intellectual, developmental, or physical challenges. No matter a person’s age, ability, or mobility, we provide a safe, nurturing, and encouraging environment where they can grow and thrive.

We have witnessed significant growth in many of our students in the areas of balance and coordination, muscle development, cognitive skills, self-esteem, and overall mood, but it's seeing their faces light up when they interact with our horses that's the most rewarding!
