Hip hip hooray! The team at Morris Hospital Orthopedics & Sports Medicine held a special celebration to congratulate Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Ahmed Eldib on becoming board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a significant accomplishment for any physician that signifies a high level of expertise and commitment to continuous learning. Dr. Eldib joined Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers in 2023 after completing his residency and fellowship, including training in Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery for total hip and knee procedures. He see patients at our Orthopedics & Sports Medicine offices in Diamond-Coal City, Joliet, Morris, and Ottawa. We’re proud to celebrate this exciting milestone in his career!

Remembering 9/11. Earlier this morning, staff from Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers, the Morris Hospital YMCA and MORRIS POLICE DEPARTMENT came together for the first annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, organized by our Wellness Department. Participants honored the heroes of 9/11 by climbing the bleachers, with each climb representing one story of the 110-story Twin Towers. Thank you to everyone who joined us in paying tribute to the lives lost and the courage shown that day.

The excitement continues in our Surgical Services department! Today was Dr. Brian Winkleman’s first surgical case in our beautiful operating rooms, pictured here in the center surrounded by surgical team Karim from Anesthesia, Dr. Wang, RN Amy, and Surgical Tech Tia. A general and minimally invasive surgeon, Dr. Winkleman joined us earlier this month after practicing 16 years in Joliet. His new office is located at our Channahon Healthcare Center on Reed Street.

Today marked an exciting milestone in our Surgical Services department as Dr. Bo Wang performed his first surgical case since joining Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers. And what a great surgical team he had supporting him! (Thank you Abbey, Tiffany and Danielle!). As a general surgeon, Dr. Wang treats a wide range of conditions, including appendicitis, hernias, gallstones, bowel obstructions, and colon and re**al concerns. It's Serena High School's turn for our Rhythm of Our Youth cardiac screening! The screening will be held Thursday, September 18 during the school day. Parents of Serena H.S. students - if you haven't filled out the consent for screening form, please follow the link and do it now! This simple, lifesaving screening helps detect undiagnosed heart conditions. And it's free! You won't want your student to miss it.

In an effort to prevent the occurrence of such tragic deaths, Morris Hospital has created a cardiac screening program called Rhythm of Our Youth (ROOY), with funding provided by generous donors to the Morris Hospital Foundation.

We are “paws-itively” certain we have the best physicians and staff at Morris Hospital Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists! For the past several years, they have been welcoming new babies into the world by presenting families with an adorable stuffed animal puppy during their first post-delivery appointment in the office, with the latest shipment of stuffed animals courtesy of generous donors to the Morris Hospital Auxiliary & Foundation. Participants can share experiences, find encouragement, and gain helpful advice from others who understand the journey.

We are SO excited that Dr. Brian Winkleman has chosen to join Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers after practicing as a general and minimally invasive surgeon in Joliet over the past 16 years! With this change, he is now doing surgeries and procedures exclusively at Morris Hospital. His new office is located at our Channahon Healthcare Center on Reed Street. Dr. Winkleman is looking forward to bringing expanded surgical services to our community!

As we head into the holiday weekend, we want to wish everyone a happy and healthy Labor Day! Here’s a quick reminder: our Urgent Care locations in Diamond-Coal City, Morris, and Channahon will remain open during their regular business hours throughout the weekend (8 a.m.- 2 p.m.). If you need care on Monday (Labor Day), Urgent Care location will be open from 8:00am-2:00 p.m. As always, Emergency Services at Morris Hospital are always available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
