Want something to brighten your week during this cold, brisk, gray January? Come out to the H.E.R. Expo this Friday night - January 23rd from 5pm to 9pm at Jennifer's Garden in Morris. It will warm you up!

H.E.R. stands for Helping Each Other Rise - a community event showcasing women entrepreneurs, business owners, and community leaders.

The first one was last year and I went as an attendee - it was so much fun. This year I'm honored to have a Three Wells booth to be a part of this great group of women.

At my booth, I'll be offering $5 Ear Acupressure using crystal-covered ear seeds - an elegant step up from the traditional ear seed and just as helpful.

Entry to the event is free. There will be lots of cool items at all the booths so they recommend having cash on hand.

Laurie Stone, L.Ac. – Hi! I’m a Licensed Acupuncturist and owner of Three Wells Acupuncture Clinic in downtown Morris. In practice for over 15 years, I help women in all stages of life – from cycle issues, to fertility, peri- & menopause, and beyond. I fell in love with acupuncture (many!) years ago when I was a patient myself. I finally felt like here is a treatment method that looks at a person as a whole, not just a bunch of individual parts; and that tries to make everything function better, not just suppress symptoms. Born and raised in Morris, I returned in 2010 with my husband and fur-baby to open my practice and bring this beautiful treatment method back home. Let's review essential oil adulteration!

There is no proven “hack” to tell if an oil is adulterated from home. Without specific lab testing, even a chemist won’t know if an oil is adulterated until they see the results. Lab tests analyze the individual components of oils to determine whether they are pure or not.

Dr. Prabodh Satyal breaks adulteration down into 5 degrees. The easiest way to adulterate an oil is by dilution with a carrier oil, the first degree. The most difficult adulteration, the fifth degree, is to adulterate using similar essential oils. Since these oils are all natural, it becomes difficult to determine where a constituent originated from.
