Daily Service Ideas

We can make this Christmas season happier by showing love the same way Jesus did during His mortal ministry. If you’re not sure how, these suggestions are a great place to start.

This Christmas season, with love as you do small acts of service each day of December. You can also wrap up 2021 by meeting with missionaries, worshipping with us, or experiencing Luke 2 like never before.

The Joliet Stake is asking for the help of our stake members on a new project: To provide some needed supplies to Afghan refugees who will soon arrive in our area.
Catholic Charities in the Rockford area will soon receive 180 refugees from Afghanistan with more to follow in the months ahead. They need to be placed into housing and provided with some basic necessities to begin their new life here in Illinois.
The Rockford stake is working closely with this non-profit organization and, with the support of the Chicago Coordinating Council, has invited the Chicago-area stakes to also participate in helping meet some of the basic needs of these individuals and families. Stake participation is voluntary but President Stradling has enthusiastically accepted the invitation for the members of the Joliet stake to help.
Our stake has volunteered to collect and donate Baby Items and pain/fever reliever for adults and children. Specific items requested include:
- Diapers (all sizes)
- Baby wipes (boxes)
- Baby shampoo and bath soap
- Baby lotion
- Play Pen + foam padding
- Pain and Fever relief medication for adults and children
This is a very worthwhile effort to give within our greater community, strengthen the Church’s relationship with the Catholic Church, and help refugees who have very little.
Please donate what you can on or before December 3rd.
Items can be donated at the Morris Ward building.

I read this and was reminded of the strength we receive in difficult times. The message is true for each of us, if we but reach out and ask.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Learn about the last week of Christ.

About a week before His Crucifixion and Resurrection, Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey as His followers joyfully welcomed Him as their king and Messiah. Today we celebrate Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem on what some call “Palm Sunday.”
