Bo was incredibly blessed to be selected for the hunt of a lifetime through the Holy Pursuit’s Dream Foundation. Dad is great about applying for these things so Bo still gets that amazing hunting experience.
The hunt was a turnkey, all-expenses-paid opportunity, covering everything from the trip to the completed mount, which will be delivered right to our door. It truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and one that we will never forget.
While Mom had her reservations about the hills and track chair, she couldn’t help but feel excited about the adventure ahead. 😟😱
We traveled to Goldtown, West Virginia, to hunt with Trophy Whitetail Hunts. The people there were amazing, and the property was absolutely breathtaking. The cabin was stunning and our crew both indoors and outdoors were beyond amazing!
The highlight of the trip was when Bo was able to hunt using the track chair and the custom gun setup that Joe Maehs and Bj built for him. Bo took pictures with a huge elk—one that still had velvet—and his expression said it all. Though he’s not a man of many words, the pure joy on his face was enough to show just how much this moment meant to him. It was a powerful and meaningful experience! We have so many to thank for this.
Maehs who built/engineered the shooting table set up, Defiance who fundraised for shooting gear, an amazing friend of Bj’s that insists on being a silent contributor- paid for and drove many hours to deliver Bo’s track chair, Whitetail Hunts at Goldtown for an amazing experience and Pursuit’s Dream Foundation for providing such an amazing opportunity for people with illness or disabilities.

MEET KOSMO
We also have a new family member, you all may not remember this, but back in January, before our surgery trip we had to go to Texas for a two week training with Canine Companion.
We applied for a service animal for Bo in early 2023. We were beyond excited to get the news that Bo was officially getting a service animal.
Kosmo is very talented, he can open and close the doors, turn lights on and off, he can pick most things up, we have even taught him to pick up the laundry and put it in the laundry basket and then use a tug rope to pull the laundry basket to the laundry room. He is amazing!!!
Kosmo can even pick up his hat, he picks it up and then put his front feet on Bo’s foot plates of his chair and gently places it in his lap.
We have to give an enormous shout out to Canine Companions and also to Deb, Deb was his puppy razor for the in-between times and she has managed him very well. Deb is amazing, she even met us in Ardmore and kept Kmoso the whole time we were in Mexico.

I have not shared this but it is a huge advantage for Bo. We are not sure if this is more from the spinal cord stimulator implants or from the stems cells themselves but Bo has gained heat tolerance.
This is huge for him, before this surgery and stem cells, he could not be in the heat for more than an hour or so, he would get very sick if he continued to stay in it. He has spent a lot of time outside in the heat and does not seem to have any issues at all.
This is amazing!!!!!!!
I will try to get more videos soon as I know they are very exciting. Thank you for your continued support, kind words and the amazing amount of encouragement you all give us.

Guess who crushed his previous goal…. This guy 💪💪💪
He was tired at 500 steps, he was persistent to get 600 but pushed right through for 700 steps. BAM!!!!!!!
Upright and on his feet with no issues or blood pressure concerns. That is my boy…… You make me so proud to be your mom.
He said the other day that we held our kids to a higher grade of expectations as kids, well if so; I am so glad we did because you and your sister are amazingly strong “Young Adults” that do not give in or quit. Suck it up, pray about it and push through it, that’s what we do.
He said this with a little frustration; my response was,
in my opinion as a child especially…
you can only be as good as the people you surround yourself with is just like you can only be as good as you are made to be; nothing less is acceptable.
In the same breath I have ALWAYS preached to my kids, “ don’t you dare treat or think you are better than anyone else”.

Well it has been 1 week and 2 days since we have been home. Bo has continued therapy at The Project 34 in Bethany. This week Jeremy put him on the standing frame that Hoyer like supported but weight bearing, Bo took 500 steps; WOW!!! So incredibly exciting!
Bo also used the FES bike (Functional Electrical Stimulation), Bo has to always be funny, see his bike video, hilarious!
