A huge shoutout to the parents in our Healthy Families NY program who joined us for our recent Growing Great Kids (GGK) seminar!

This essential training certifies our team in the GGK curriculum, but the real stars were the families who volunteered to help us learn. By demonstrating a home visit in front of our staff, these parents helped us and other students learning the curriculum see firsthand how to apply positive parenting strategies that prepare children for success: from the prenatal stages all the way to Kindergarten.

When parents have the tools they need to support their child's learning journey, the whole community thrives.

STOP Domestic & Sexual Violence touches many lives throughout the community. Our hearts are full as children from Oak Street Elementary, accompanied by Ms. Kristen Gommel, included STOP DSV in their Stuffed Animal Drive after reading "Pocket Bear" by Katherine Applegate. They were inspired to refurbish gently used stuffed animals to donate to children who needed some extra love.

We are grateful that the children and teachers thought of the many children impacted by Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence, and extend our deepest appreciation. Many children will feel a little more safe with a new friend in a time of big change.

This week on our "I Am BHSN" series, we're featuring Shaylah Baker, a dedicated Care Navigator at the Center for Wellbeing Queensbury! Shaylah has been a vital part of our team for over a year.

When asked what makes a difference in her work, Shaylah shared that she arrives every day with an open, empathetic heart. She feels her calling is to be a safe space for the individuals we serve, knowing that if she can alleviate even a little bit of weight off their shoulders, she has succeeded.

Exactly a week ago, we had a fantastic time celebrating Mardi Gras with our friends at the Plattsburgh YMCA. It was a joy to see so many families drop by to enjoy arts and crafts and spend time together as a community.
