This July, invite your child to make an "I CAN" poster — a fun, creative way to celebrate what makes them strong, capable, and unique.

🖍️ Grab paper, markers, stickers — whatever you have on hand.

✨ Help them write or draw a few things they CAN do — big or small. It might be:

– “I can balance for 5 seconds!”
– “I can take deep breaths when I feel wiggly.”
– “I can ask for help when I need it.”

Hang it somewhere special. It’s a simple reminder that ability shows up in all kinds of amazing ways.

Celebrating what kids can do helps build confidence, self-awareness, and pride. 💛

🧘‍♀️ Cooling Yoga Poses for Kids This Summer

When the sun is shining bright and it’s time to slow down and cool off, these gentle yoga poses help kids feel refreshed and relaxed:

Child’s Pose (Balasana): Kneel back on your heels, stretch your arms forward, and rest your forehead on the floor — a calming, restful pose.

Seated Forward Fold: Sit tall, then gently fold forward to reach your toes or shins — helps release heat and calm the mind.

Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani): Lie on your back and rest your legs up against a wall — soothing for tired legs and cooling for the body.

Reclining Butterfly: Lie on your back, bring the soles of your feet together, and let your knees fall open — a gentle opener for hips and chest.

Savasana with Deep Breaths: Lie flat on your back, arms relaxed, and take slow, deep breaths — perfect for calming down after active play.

Encourage kids to focus on their breath as they move through these poses to invite a sense of calm and coolness on hot days.

🌳 July is National Picnic & Parks Month!

There’s no better time to get outside and enjoy the simple joys of movement, sunshine, and fresh air.

Parks, trails, and picnic spots offer wonderful opportunities for kids to:
🍉 Build strength through climbing, crawling, and balancing
🧺 Practice motor skills with simple tasks like packing snacks or pouring water
🌿 Connect with nature, which helps support calm and sensory regulation

Even a short visit to the park can be a mini adventure that supports physical and emotional growth — all while having fun!

This month, make space for movement, fresh air, and a little messiness. Nature has a way of helping kids bloom.

From increased strength and coordination to better focus, emotional regulation, and deep rest — yoga therapy offers a whole-body approach to support growth and well-being.

Through breath, movement, and mindfulness, children (and adults!) begin to:
✨ Improve concentration and focus
✨ Reduce test anxiety
✨ Boost digestion and sleep
✨ Strengthen motor planning and stamina
✨ Develop confidence and self-regulation

Yoga therapy is more than exercise — it’s a journey toward inner balance and resilience.

🌿 Come experience the difference. Your body, mind, and spirit will thank you.

🌈 July is Disability Pride Month — a time to honor children of all abilities and the incredible strength, joy, and creativity they bring to the world.

In our work, we see every day how movement looks different for every child — and how powerful it is when each child is supported to move in ways that feel right for them.

Pride means celebrating differences, advocating for inclusion, and creating space where every child can feel seen, supported, and proud of who they are. 💛

🌞 Start Your Day with Breath & Movement

Begin the morning with a calming breath and gentle stretch to set a positive tone for the day:

Breath Exercise:

Try the “Balloon Breath” — take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, imagining your belly filling up like a big balloon. Then, slowly breathe out through your mouth, letting the balloon gently deflate. Repeat 3 times.

Movement Exercise:
Follow with “Sun Salutations” — reach your arms up tall toward the sky, stretch your whole body, then slowly bend down to touch your toes. Repeat this flow 3 times, moving with your breath.

This simple routine helps kids (and adults!) wake up their bodies, focus their minds, and feel ready for whatever the day brings!

🎨 Sensory Play for Every Child

Sensory play supports learning and development by engaging the senses—but for kids with sensory sensitivities, it’s important to start slow and choose textures that feel comfortable.

Try offering materials like soft fabric scraps, smooth stones, or water play with a gentle splash. Let your child explore at their own pace, and celebrate every little discovery!

Here’s a gentle activity to try: a calm water play station with cups, spoons, and floating toys. It’s soothing, fun, and helps build coordination and focus.

Remember, sensory play is all about making connections in a way that feels safe and joyful.
