1. Get the Flu Vaccine
โข The annual flu shot is the best protection for children 6 months and older.
โข It helps reduce the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and complications.
2. Wash Hands Often
โข Use soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after school, playtime, or coughing/sneezing.
โข Hand sanitizer is helpful when soap and water arenโt available.
3. Practice Good Cough & Sneeze Etiquette
โข Teach children to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or their elbow.
โข Dispose of tissues right away and wash hands.
4. Keep Hands Away From the Face
โข Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth, where germs spread easily.
5. Stay Home When Sick
โข Keep children home from school or activities if they have fever, cough, sore throat, or body aches.
โข They should be fever-free for 24 hours (without medicine) before returning.
6. Clean & Disinfect Frequently Touched Surfaces
โข Wipe down toys, doorknobs, phones, tablets, and countertops regularly.
7. Support a Strong Immune System
โข Encourage:
โข Healthy meals
โข Plenty of fluids
โข Adequate sleep
โข Regular physical activity
8. Avoid Close Contact With Sick Individuals
โข Try to limit exposure to anyone who is ill, especially infants and children with chronic conditions.
