New Jersey Pediatric Neuroscience Institute

New Jersey Pediatric Neuroscience Institute Nationally recognized pediatric doctors and surgeons in NJ specializing in children with neurosurgic conditions.

At New Jersey Pediatric Neuroscience Institute (NJPNI), we believe that every patient should receive exceptional and individualized care, without exception. Our mission is to provide comprehensive care for the patient, and their family, when a child has been diagnosed with a developmental, neurological or neurosurgical disorder. We seek to improve your child’s health and lifestyle by delivering an expedited and accurate diagnosis, and then providing treatment in a comprehensive and patient- and family-centered manner. Our goal is to provide the best possible healthcare in the areas of childhood developmental disorders, pediatric neurological and neurosurgical diseases. We believe that by working together, with patients and their families, our neurosurgeons, neurologists, ancillary healthcare providers, therapists and orthotists deliver the best care in the world. We treat each child as our own, with the utmost respect for the family’s involvement and needs. Our patient’s stories have become an important part of our lives, and we hope that by sharing their stories with you, you may better understand the type of care we provide at NJPNI.

If your baby consistently tilts their head or prefers looking one way, it’s important not to wait it out. Congenital muscular torticollis responds best to early, structured physical therapy, with about a 97% resolution rate when treatment begins before 6 months of age.

This video highlights what physical therapy targets and demonstrates simple daily positioning habits that can support your baby’s development.

If you’re unsure whether your child may have torticollis, consider reaching out to NJPNI or speaking with your pediatrician about a physical therapy evaluation this week.

Today, NJPNI presented a free educational webinar titled “Beyond the Convulsion: Identifying Pediatric Seizures and Rescue Care,” hosted by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (NJAAP).

The presentation was led by NJPNI epileptologists Dr. Sohum Trivedi and Dr. Janti Chaaban, who shared important guidance to help educate families and support healthcare professionals in recognizing pediatric seizures and understanding when rescue care may be needed.

With more than 200 attendees, the session highlighted how education and awareness can play a critical role in improving outcomes—and in some cases, saving lives.

NJPNI is proud to continue working with partners like NJAAP to expand knowledge and strengthen care for children with neurological conditions. 🤗

As the saying goes, March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb—and those shifting conditions can sometimes take a toll on children’s health.

Sudden temperature fluctuations can challenge the body’s ability to regulate itself, digestive systems may become more sensitive during seasonal transitions, and developing immune systems often require additional support as they adapt to changing environmental conditions like Spring allergies.

Remaining mindful of these changes can help families take simple steps to support their child’s health as this month begins to shift between cold and warm temperatures. 🌱

This past Sunday, our physical therapists Jhoanna and Giana attended the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ) Conference, where they connected with athletic trainers from across the state and shared NJPNI’s mission to improve continuity of care for pediatric concussion patients.

The day was filled with valuable conversations, budding partnerships, and encouraging feedback from professionals who share our commitment to supporting student-athletes. We’re especially excited about potential collaborations with schools to help bring more education and resources to young athletes and their communities. 🤗

With March recognized as Brain Injury Awareness Month, opportunities like this help us continue raising awareness about concussion care and recovery for children and teens.

Stay tuned as we share more throughout the month about brain injury awareness and how we can better support pediatric brain health. 🧠

Continuous learning is part of how we care for your children. ✍️

Our providers recently gathered for a Lunch & Learn focused on the latest advancements in ADHD treatment.

Staying current on emerging therapies, updated research, and evolving best practices allows us to thoughtfully evaluate new options and determine what may be appropriate for the wellbeing of our patients.

Medicine is always moving forward — and so are we.

By remaining engaged, informed, and collaborative, we ensure that families receive care rooted in both experience and the most up-to-date clinical knowledge available. 🤗
