Did you know March is Colore**al Cancer Awareness Month?

Every year more than 100,000 Americans are diagnosed with colore**al cancer. While that number has dropped overall since the mid-1980s, this downward trend is mostly in older adults. In people younger than 50, rates have increased by 2.9% annually from since 2022. In adults age 50-64, the rate has increased 0.4% annually.

In the United States, colore**al cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer related deaths in men and the fourth-leading cause in women. In 2026, the American Cancer Society estimates 55,230 deaths from colon or re**al cancers.

People of average risk, aged 45 years or older are recommended to screen for colore**al cancer annually. Schedule an appointment today to discuss your risk factors and receive information about detecting colore**al cancer early.

HealthStar Physicians, founded in 1995, is a successful multi-specialty group, located in Morristown, Tennessee. HealthStar Physicians had approximately 188,500 patient encounters in 2006, and projects patient encounters in excess of 200,000 in 2007. HealthStar Physicians, P.C. is comprised of 40 physicians and 17 mid-level providers representing 18 specialties. There are nine practice locations in three contiguous counties. The majority of the group practices in a class, 75,000 square foot Medical Office Building, which encompasses the following ancillary services:


  • Urgent Care Clinic – The Urgent Care Clinic provides the community with after hours care. It is staffed 7 days per week with HealthStar physicians and/or mid-level providers.
