Exciting News for the O&P Community!
Yesterday, July 17, the Medicare Orthotics and Prosthetics Patient-Centered Care Act was introduced in both the U.S. Senate (S. 2329) and House of Representatives (H.R. 4475)!
This bipartisan, bicameral legislation—led by Senators Mark Warner (D-VA) and Steve Daines (R-MT) and Representatives GT Thompson (R-PA), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Debbie Dingell (D-MI), and Mike Thompson (D-CA)—is a major step forward in protecting patient access to high-quality O&P care.
The legislation would:
- Stops drop shipping of custom orthoses and prostheses
- Exempts O&P from flawed DMEPOS competitive bidding
- Ensures timely access to replacement custom orthoses
