The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Alliance Health, and New Hope Treatment Centers are partnering on a pilot program to improve mental health care for young people involved in the justice system.

The $3.5 million investment from NCDHHS will fund a new mental health program operated by New Hope Treatment Centers at the Dillon Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) in Butner.

“Alliance Health appreciates the opportunity to partner with NCDHHS on this much-needed initiative that is consistent with our ongoing commitment to bringing care directly to people who need it,” said Sean Schreiber, Chief of Innovation and Strategy, “whether that is at a street medicine event, through a mobile crisis team, or to these justice-involved youth.”

Every brain injury has a story and every story deserves to be seen, heard, and honored.

The mission of Unmasking Brain Injury is to promote awareness of the prevalence of brain injury; to give survivors a voice and the means to educate others about what it’s like to live with a brain injury; and to show that individuals living with disabilities due to brain injury are, above all else, people deserving of dignity, respect, compassion, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

This month, we recognize the strength, resilience, and humanity of survivors. We commit to listening to their experiences, amplifying their voices, and advocating for a world that sees their value clearly.

March is a reminder that progress didn’t happen by accident — it happened because brave women refused to accept the limits placed on them.

This , we celebrate the trailblazers who broke barriers in mental health and psychology.

Because of pioneers like Dorothea Dix, who transformed care for people with mental health concerns, Mamie Phipps Clark, whose research helped dismantle segregation, and Karen Horney, who redefined psychological theory — we stand on stronger ground today!
