Alliance Health joined partner organizations across Orange County to host a street medicine pop-up on Tuesday, July 22 in downtown Chapel Hill.
Street medicine is a model of healthcare that provides medical care directly to people experiencing homelessness in their living environments, such as encampments, parks, and under bridges. It addresses the barriers that prevent unsheltered individuals from accessing traditional healthcare settings, such as lack of transportation, lack of trust in institutions, and the stigma associated with homelessness. The event supported local unsheltered residents with a wide range of resources and services, including:

* ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐: Medical appointments, medication needs, check-ups and screenings
* ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ: Dental exams, teeth cleaning, help with follow-up care
* ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ: Veterinary and animal services including vaccines, microchips and exams
* ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ฝ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ต๐ผ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ณ๐ถ๐๐: Support filling out forms for housing, food stamps, Medicaid and other services
People in attendance also had access to haircuts, self-care kits, socks, clothes, supplies to stay safe in the summer heat, and a filling breakfast and lunch.

Other event organizers were OCNCGov, including its health department, department of social services, partnership to end homelessness, animal services, emergency services, and criminal resource justice department, as well as the The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health and University Baptist Church. supported the event with funding to purchase supplies.
On ๐๐๐ด๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐ฏ, Alliance will join Raleigh's Housing and Community Development Department at Moore Square in Raleigh for โMeet Us at The Square,โ a compassionate community event dedicated to extending holistic support and resources to individuals facing homelessness or at-risk situations. Meet Us at The Square will be a convergence point for multiple sources of assistance designed to increase accessibility and engagement with all the services available in Raleigh for people experiencing or at-risk for homelessness.
