Holidays may be hard. Make a plan with loved ones to make them safer.

It is impossible to ignore that many people will be observing Thanksgiving this year in a difficult family environment. Survivors of sexual violence are particularly vulnerable, especially with everything going on in our world right now.

No one should have to endure these situations, but we also understand that they are extremely nuanced, and there are many reasons people may still attend these gatherings even though they don't really want to. Here are a few tips to consider if you are anxious about an upcoming event.

While the holidays are about demonstrating our appreciation for others, it is crucial that we continue to prioritize our needs and not sacrifice our well-being to please others. Whether it's a white lie, planning a second celebration, or skipping the event completely, take this post as permission to do what feels best this Thanksgiving.

🍂 Students in Hazen’s Wayfinding class recently participated in Healthy Lamoille Valley's annual fall kick-off event at the Green Mountain Tech Center. The event focused on National Prevention Month and regional efforts to strengthen prevention of substance abuse.

Wayfinding is a course designed to help Hazen students explore life after high school—whether that means joining the workforce, attending college, taking a gap year, or discovering their direction. The class focuses on building connections, honing communication skills, and aligning students' values with meaningful career paths.

At this event, students put those skills into action, joining state legislators along with community members from across the valley to discuss youth wellness, prevention, and community support.

Thank you to Healthy Lamoille Valley for creating this meaningful space for youth voice and community connection! 💚
