Our goal is to provide you with the best possible oral surgical care in a safe, relaxed, compassionate environment. Dr. Karras is a life-long Chicagoan.

He attended Lane Technical High School and received his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received his Bachelor of Science in Dentistry with Honors and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, where he graduated in the top ten in his class and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Following his graduation from dental school, Dr. Karras entered a four year, hospital based training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He served his residency at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and at Boston University's Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry. His residency included extensive training in all aspects of hospital and office based oral and maxillofacial surgery and anesthesia. During his fourth year of specialty training, he was appointed chief resident. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Karras was selected to complete a 12 month fellowship program in reconstructive surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas under the direction of one of the world's preeminent surgeons in that field. During his fellowship, Dr. Karras had the opportunity to perform many complex reconstructive procedures and to refine his surgical skills. It also gave him the opportunity to be involved in clinical research. He has presented the results of this research at national meetings of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and has authored or co-authored several articles in scientific journals. Dr. Karras has served as President of the Chicago Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and maintains active membership in the Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, as well as the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society and the American Dental Association. He is also a Fellow of the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology. Dr. Karras is a Key Opinion Leader for Nobel Biocare, the world's largest Dental Implant manufacturer and is considered an expert in the "All-on-4 Treatment Concept", which provides for the immediate installation of full arch restorations on dental implants. He lectures nationally on this topic, teaching other doctors how to perform this revolutionary technique. He also shares his knowledge with aspiring Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons at the UIC College of Dentistry, where he is a Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Karras' advanced training and extensive professional experience allow him to provide the highest level of surgical care for cases ranging from the most basic to the most complex. He has been engaged in the private practice of oral, maxillofacial, and dental implant surgery in the Chicago area since 1994.

2023 is now in the books. Whether it's called All-on-4, All-on-X, Same Day Teeth, or Teeth in a Day we were able to help more patients than ever with dental implant reconstruction. Many of our patients benefited from zygomatic implants.

These procedures are life-changing for our patients and give us, as doctors, an enormous sense of satisfaction being able to help them achieve their goals.

Zygomatic implants allow us to treat patients with limited bone without grafting and to complete cases with a single surgery.

I finally got a chance to compile our cases from 2022...It's very rewarding to be able to help patients achieve their goals with this treatment option.

We love being able to provide dental implant solutions even to patients with limited bone. Zygomatic implants anchor in the cheek bones and are used when the bone at the gum line is insufficient.

Our office is being recognized more and more for our expertise in treating challenging full arch implant cases. Many of these involve placing zygomatic implants, which anchor into the cheekbone when there is insufficient bone in the upper jaw, or when previous implants have failed.. These are our cases from last year....

It's been a busy few weeks in our practice, and we have had some challenging cases!

Several of our patients have required zygomatic implants due to a lack of adequate bone for traditional implant placement to support their new teeth.

The most challenging case had completely insufficient bone in the upper jaw and required the placement of 2 zygomatic implants on each side....this is known as a "Quad Zygoma" case.

It is very gratifying to be able to help these patients return to proper function.
