Are direct healthcare costs basically the same thing as self-pay discounts?

Think of it like a buying a car: the dealership may offer you a 25% discount, but that discount may not be worth much if it's based on a price tag that's been heavily marked up.

Similarly, self-pay patients may be offered a 25% discount, but the discount relies on a billed charge that's been calculated with insurance incentives, middleman markups, and administrative bloat. If the price of your surgery is already marked up 200%, 25% off doesn't represent a fair price.

Bundled pricing, as offered by Veritas Surgery, is a completely different approach. Instead of a discount on a billed charge, our bundled trust pricing provides patients with a single, all-inclusive price that covers the entire surgical episode. This price reflects the actual costs of the procedure. This means that everything—from the surgeon’s fee and anesthesia to facility costs and follow-up care—is included in one transparent price.

So although cash pay discounts can certainly save a self-paying patient some money, direct healthcare represents a fundamentally approach to pricing that prioritizes real value and honesty.
