UPDATES ❤️ ✨

*scroll to the bottom for the TLDR

Mother Nourish Postpartum is coming to end, but also flourishing in new ways.

Like the branches of a tree, new blooms are unfolding and others are being pruned.

🌳 The roots still remain.

I will no longer be working in a doula capacity or taking in-home postpartum clients.

However, I will always be a doula.

This work has shifted how I will show up in any future body of work and my commitment to thriving life. Specifically as it relates to mothers, children, and families.

This fall I have accepted a place in Boise State University’s Master of Social Work program.

With eyes on supporting maternal health and the vast inequities, while also looking to move into a clinical mental health therapist role in the future.

My capacity will shift to schooling for the next two years.

What will still remain?

⭕️ My commitment to gathering mother’s and the deep need in my community for circle.

I also hope to add in women’s circles to gather and observe the wheel of the year, but will be able to make that commitment as I have a better idea of my work load.

Here’s to walking the path and watching what unfolds. 🌺

TLDR: I will no longer be accepting doula clients. I am going back to school to get my MSW to eventually work as a licensed clinical social work/mental health therapist. My fire and passion for maternal health remains. I will still offer mother’s circles as my main body of work as I get through schooling for the next 2 years.

Do you need a break? Is that even a question? 🤪♥️

I am hosting a weekend mother’s retreat this August 15-17th in Cheney, WA and there are still a couple spots left!

All single rooms are claimed but we still have one more hide-a-bed in a spacious basement that will be shared with 1-2 other women (slumber party). As well as a large, fluffy sectional if someone doesn’t mind a more flexible sleeping arrangement.

Alternatively, there are a couple day passes open for Saturday, August 16th. A handful are coming up for just the day!

The retreat will include:
-A nourishing weekend with fellow moms to witness each other in our shared motherhood and have fun together!
-Overnight lodging or day pass options.
-All meals—breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks/dessert, and tea/coffee/bubble water.
-All activities— time spent in nature (2 lakes nearby and house is on private property), time spent on circle + ceremony, time making things with your hands, and time to just hang out and relax.
-A gift bag with special treats.

Non-mobile babies are welcome for the day on a case by case basis. The Airbnb is not child proof and we want this to primarly be a space just for moms. ♥️

I’ve been learning more about birth imprints and memories in the womb lately.

At the same time my youngest son, age 3.5, has been talking extra with me about when he was born and his time in “mommy’s belly.”

Sometimes it’s telling me about how he used to play monster trucks in my womb. 🤪 However, sometimes he says things that cause me to pause and even write them down.

Yesterday, during breakfast, he told me, “When I was born my heart came out and I dropped it back in.”

I don’t know why but I spent all day thinking about what that meant. Maybe it had no meaning and was just toddler musings, but maybe it did.

When pen met the paper, this is what came toward. ♥️

P.S. I often only share my writing with friends or instagram story “close friends.” Feels a little vulnerable but here we are.

The practice of deep and reflective listening is something I use with clients and those who join me in circle.

More often than not, women just want to be witnessed and heard. They do not need fixed. For they are not broken.

While there is certainly a time and necessity for advice and physical support, starting in a space where a mother feels heard and is able to voice her inner wisdom is the path I try to follow.

Holding a container where one can share and be heard, with love, is a potent kind of medicine. ❤️

I am excited to start the Palouse Mother’s Circle back up with a birth story sharing circle!

This will be space to gather as mothers and share in a safe and loving container. It’s a place to be witnessed and held in your unique story as there are many different ways to become a mother and give birth.

In village communities women would often sit together and share their stories. As a result, they would often go into birth with less fear, as well as be witnessed in their challenges. I would love to bring the essence of this old practice to our area.

This circle will be on Saturday, November 9th from 9:30-11:30am at The Nest Birth & Wellness birth center in Moscow (424 S Jefferson-behind the Uma Center). A nourishing brunch and tea will be provided.

I am capping this container at 8 mothers in order to have an intimate group that allows space for everyone to share.

The investment for circle is $25. If cost is an issue, please reach out to me and we can talk about a sliding scale. I am always open to and love trades to supplement or completely cover cost (eggs, meat, sourdough, bodywork, etc). Please contact me to discuss. ❤️

Lastly, I will be offering traditional postpartum bodywork for those interested after the circle at a discounted rate. I will have room for 3-4 women to choose from yoni/womb steaming or moxibustion womb warming. My hope is that this can serve as care and healing for women who did not receive postpartum care and would like to later on (because postpartum is forever). As well as women who could use continued care and healing. Reach out to reserve your spot!

Today I was talking with a second time, early postpartum mom who was telling me about the night and day experience she was having so far.

Despite working through some feeding challenges. Despite sleepiness and general newborn fog. Despite a sore body that is healing.

When I asked her what felt different she shared this: nutrition and rest.

Since baby came earth-side in the comfort of their home, she has not left her bed except to use the bathroom and shower. She has made her nest with lots of comfy pillows, mugs of tea, and good books to read while cocooned with her baby.

Her meals have been warming, nutrient dense, and abundant. Honoring her craving of foods on the sweeter side (which is super common and lovely). Lots of daily bone broth, homemade electrolytes, NORA infusions, postpartum wellness tea, and herbal chai. Also sitz baths, warm herbal compresses for her breasts, and allowing me the honor of witnessing her birth story.

Oh the medicine we have in slowing down and nourishing our bodies. ❤️

🥣 : Apple crumble baked oatmeal with spiced plum butter & a drizzle of coconut cream.
