You & I Mindfulness Mindfulness is a perfect antidote for fast-paced, stress-filled modern life. You & I Mindness offers free access to mindfulness resources. No experience needed.

Open to the public too. Dr. Jamie Derrick a certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher (UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center, accredited training program). She also spent 100 hours studying MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) with Jon Kabat Zinn and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts. She has taught mindfulness classes at University of Idaho and at UCLA to students and staff. She also offers classes in the Moscow community at the Nourish Yoga Studio. She has been offering community classes at the 1912 Center in Moscow this summer. She is a welcoming teacher.

I will be offering a mindfulness practice tomorrow that will reach the places inside that are dry; and need a good watering. As we cultivate intentional noticing for the bits of wholesome goodness and beauty all around us... and we slow and savor these moments -- then we've landed on a wonderful practice. We stretch wide the experience of delight as medicine. This serves as a counter-weight to the chaos and the burdens. That will be the offering tomorrow. All are welcome.

The noon-12:20 mindfulness practice today was about cultivating an "I'm ok" mind. Establishing, through practice, a skill of knowing we are strong enough to meet our experiences. I mentioned the work of Joanna Macy, a Buddhist environmental activist who recently passed away at 96, and her belief that the moments we 'don't know', 'can't count on' and 'can't comfort ourselves' with any sure outcomes... those moments are powerful and generative. Because what we do know is that we can meet the moment we are given --- and show up for what is real and what matters. And we are expanded by that -- into our strength, creativity, and courage. We truly are ok.

Please join me next Wednesday... we all need this skill.

Hello Everyone... UI Mind drop-in meditation is back! The academic year has begun and so have we. Each Wednesday noon-12:20, on zoom [in the comfort of your own space], you can join Jamie Derrick for a gentle, guided, healing mindfulness meditation. Zoom link is in the image and comments.
