Weight loss medications like Ozempic can seem like a magic fix, but there’s more to the story. As an anti-diet dietitian, I’m wary of anything promising fast weight loss. Weight loss alone does not guarantee better health—especially when it’s not paired with sustainable lifestyle changes.

Here’s the truth:
🔹 Ozempic can help manage metabolic disease symptoms and weight, but it’s not a cure-all.
🔹 Without addressing your relationship with food and building habits like strength training, weight loss is often temporary. Your body’s job is survival—slowing metabolism and regaining weight is the natural survival response.
🔹 People lose both muscle and fat with GLP-1 medications Muscle loss impacts metabolism and overall health, especially as we age.

👉 If you’re considering Ozempic:
- Prioritize protein intake to protect muscle mass.
- Incorporate strength training 2-3 times per week.
- Move your body with at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity each week.
- And don’t forget your digestive health—it’s a muscle, too! Digestive muscles must be used like any other muscle in the body to work properly. Electrolytes are needed for impulses to contract these muscles. A balanced intake of magnesium, potassium, sodium, and vitamin C can help with bloating keep things moving.
