Acorn Hill EAAT Inc. Children and adults with physical, occupational, and speech language therapy needs require repetitio

Children and adults with physical, occupational, and speech language therapy needs require repetition provided by ponies/horses. Our hourly, weekly sessions combine with traditional therapy. However, unlike traditional therapy, our work takes place in a barn, arena or trail in the woods with ponies or horses who play a key role. Goals/objectives are met in two ways: “In barn” activities and Hippotherapy, treatment with the help of the horse. Hippotherapy offers unique benefits due to the warmth & swinging gait of the pony/horse and is supported by research. High levels of motivation contribute to our success in meeting treatment goals and objectives. Our participants are too busy having fun to know they are actually “working.” Or, they find an emotional outlet while bonding with a pony/horse that allows them to find closure and begin the healing process.

Our Story

People come to our Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) centers because there is nothing else like it in the world. Unlike traditional therapy our work takes place in a barn, arena or trail in the woods with ponies or horses who play a key role. Our participants are too busy having fun to know they are actually “working.” Or, they find an emotional outlet while bonding with a horse that allows them to find closure and heal. Therapy goals/objectives are met in two ways: “In barn” activities and Hippotherapy, treatment with the help of the horse. Research supported Hippotherapy is combined with traditional Physical, Occupational and Speech Language therapy. Watch our Pilot program video @tinyurl.com/y9nj2yar to see how Hippotherapy works and why. See our young rider taking steps. Visit our page @acornhilleaat to see who we are working with, our incredible volunteers in action and how we are improving lives for people with special needs in central MN. In fact, the value we provide our participants and families comes from our Mission statement: To improve the quality of life for individuals with special needs in central Minnesota through Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT). We are planning to fund and build a heated, covered arena this coming spring so we may continue meeting our mission statement and improving lives throughout many more months of the year. We offer unique community based services that draw on people to volunteer and support. You are invited to visit our website www.acornhilleaat.org to learn more, and consider making an easy PayPal online tax deductible donation or contribute by mail today. Join us in making a difference!
