For the past 10 years, Ms. Barbara Filipp and our COTA, Elizabeth, have shared more than just a birthday—they’ve shared a special bond that feels just like family. Barbara lovingly says they’re “twins,” and we couldn’t agree more! 🥰

✨Therapy Success✨

Mr. Smith was admitted to Shady Oak Nursing and Rehabilitation following a mild stroke that resulted in slight hemiplegia, aphasia, and overall weakness. He and his family chose Shady Oak for its 5-star quality rating and commitment to exceptional care.

During his stay, Mr. Smith actively participated in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy to improve his strength, balance, activities of daily living, safety awareness, and safe self-feeding techniques. His consistency, motivation, and positive mindset played a key role in his success.

Mr. Smith was especially driven by his goal of returning home to care for and enjoy time with his beloved dogs—a goal that kept him focused throughout his recovery.

Through dedication and teamwork with our skilled staff, Mr. Smith made excellent progress and successfully discharged home with his wife, completing daily tasks independently and safely.

We are grateful to Mr. Smith for trusting Shady Oak Nursing and Rehabilitation with his care and wish him continued health and happiness at home. 💚🤍

Annual Easter Egg Hunt:
We would like to extend our gratitude to all who participated in our annual Easter egg hunt yesterday. The event was a resounding success, and everyone had a wonderful time. The Easter bunny visited for photos and participated in the bunny hop with the kids before the hunt began. Our staff set up a hydration and snack table to ensure everyone's needs were met. We appreciate the sponsorship of the Easter Hunt Gold Egg Prize Baskets by Maria Hermes from Hospice of South Texas. The winners were delighted with their prizes. A special thank you goes to Misti, our MDS coordinator, for playing the role of the Easter Bunny for the evening. We appreciate the egg donation from Advanced Home Health and the egg contributions from various families and organizations. Our staff's hard work and dedication made this event a success, and we thank them for their efforts. We would also like to thank our Activity Director, Victoria, for organizing this event and making it enjoyable for our residents and the community.
The winners of the golden egg prizes in their respective age categories were: 0-3 years: Keaton Hermes, 4-6 years: Esperanza Rodriguez, and 7-9 years: Luke Mondin.
