Betty Joe Huston, 71, of Mount Hope, Alabama passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, at North Alabama Medical Center. The graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Smith Cemetery with Anthony Laster officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home Directing.

Born on April 3, 1954, to John and Myrtle White Mears, Betty enjoyed selling produce to the Mount Hope Community. She enjoyed spending time with her dog "Bug" and her family.

Survivors include her children, Chris (Samantha) Douglas, Stacy Douglas, and Tonya (William) Hill; grandchildren, Kayla Hill, Kimberly Hill, Jason Douglas, Elizabeth Douglas, Kaylee Harrell, Ryan Harrell, and Jacob Harrell; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Huston; parents, John and Myrtle Mears; sister, Annie Mears; brother, RC Mears; and nephew, Donald "Chigger" Mears.

Pallbearers will be William Hill, Jason Douglas, Austin Harrell, James Hallman, James Kinard, Davie Douglas, Tim Blevins, and William Copeland.

The family extends special thanks to the Doctors, nurses, and staff at North Alabama Medical Center.

Wanda Gail Smith, 75, of Town Creek passed away Friday, December 12, 2025 at her residence in Town Creek. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. Hollis Retherford officiating. Burial will be at Hardshell Cemetery.

Born on June 11, 1950 to Robert and Frances "Scoot" Crittenden Jeffreys, Wanda attended Hazlewood High School and was a member of Sanderson Chapel. Wanda deeply loved her family, she enjoyed spending time with her sisters and brother. She enjoyed cooking her favorite meals for her loved ones. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Barry; Son, Tim (Amanda) Smith; grandchildren, Kaylyn (Chase) Reeves, Jacob (Audrey) Smith, Jordan (Braxton) Davis, Ty Smith, Kyli Smith; great-grandchildren, Gemma Reeves, Went Reeves, Sol Reeves, Maverick Davis, Josie Smith, Josette Reeves, Sterling Davis, River Davis, Ryan Davis; sisters, Sandra (Mikey) Stutts, Phyllis (Gary) Grigsby; brothers, Keith Jeffreys; her special friend Lynn Smith, and a large number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Robert Jeffreys; mother, Frances "Scoot" Crittenden; father-in-law, Lowell Smith; mother-in-law, Audrey Smith; son, Frankie Smith; sister, Peggy Henley; and nephews, Daniel Smith and Jake Watts.

Pallbearers will be David Smith, Alex Brackin, Brian Jeffreys, James Pierce, Brandon Jeffreys, Richard Terry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Holbrooks, Danny Smith, Michael Smith, Donnie Eskridge, and Jay Terry. The family extends special thanks to Compassus nurses; Amanda, Karley, Anna, Cora, and her sitter Liz Stewart.

Opal Voncille "Von" Holland, 85, of Moulton, AL passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Lawrence Funeral Home with Marshall Turner officiating. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens.

Von was born on March 18, 1940 to James and Minnie Melson Gillespie. Von loved the Lord and enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to sing and cook, especially chocolate cake. She enjoyed spending her time doing word search puzzles, including even making her own. Von had a deep passion for collecting Indian treasures for her Indian room. Von had a servants heart with unconditional love for everyone. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, and a dear friend to all who knew her. She was a member of Fairhaven Church of Christ in Moulton, and she has spent her whole life looking forward to meeting Jesus.

Shelby Jean Parker, 88, of Town Creek, Alabama passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at NHC of Moulton Moulton, AL. The graveside service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Providence Cemetery with Randall Parker officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Born on March 19, 1937, to Hardy and Bertha Burden Terry. In her early years Shelby worked for Champion Papers where she later retired. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Shelby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her joy in life was her grandson and great-grandchildren, and she will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her sons, Randall (Deborah) Parker and Jeff Parker; grandson, Zachery (Leah) Parker, great-grandchildren, Haven Parker, Zoe Parker, Bo Parker, and Brady Sherrill; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Shelby was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Parker; parents, Hardy and Bertha Terry; brothers, Billy and H.B. Terry.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Ethan Blake Mitchell, 22, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025, suddenly and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Born on January 23, 2003, to Jesse Mitchell II and Lindsay Robins, Ethan worked as a pipe-fitter for The Systems Group at Nucor in Decatur. He was a member of New Beginnings Church in Moulton. Ethan was known for his love for his family and friends. He had a servants heart, and would do anything for anyone in the blink of an eye. Ethan loved the Lord, his girlfriend, and his truck.

Survivors include his father, Jesse (Meleah) Mitchell II; mother, Lindsay (Jacob) Robins; significant other, Makinzie Lovett; brothers, Jesse "Tre" (Haylee) Mitchell III, Nathan Mitchell, and Dawson Mitchell; step-brothers, Cody Crutcher, Tanner Gillespie, and Cormick Robins; step-sisters, Presley Pace and Sadie Robins; paternal grandparents, Jessie and Sue Mitchell; maternal grandmother, Brenda Bracy; step-grandparents, Byron and Annette Elsten; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Born on January 22, 1943 to the late James and Eunice Payne Montgomery, Evoin grew up in Lang Town and attended Chalybeate Spring High School. She loved her church family at Flower Hill Primitive Church where she enjoyed singing and the fellowship more than anyone could imagine. Evoin also loved to dance, work in her flowers and cooking, but most of all she really liked to take care of people.

Survivors include her children, Roy (Lynn) Grinfin, Melinda (Mark) Mason, Carolyn (David) Murphree, and Troy Grinfin; grandchildren, Deklyn Grinfin, Jennifer (Chuck) Mitchell, Melissa (Jimmy) Mason, Tiffany Harris, Johnathan Murphree, and Tyler Simmons; great-grandchildren, Eli Simmons, Dawson Mason, Julian Mason, Nash Simmons, Nathan Murphree, and Anabella Murphree; sister, Marjorie (Greg) Wimberly; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Weldon Burney, 86, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama passed away Friday, December 5, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. Born on December 4, 1939, to T.M. and Cora Sue Lovett Burney, Weldon was an avid Alabama fan. He spent many years coaching peewee youth football for 22 years, and led the kids to a championship 21 times of those years. In his younger years he enjoyed drag racing and bowling. Weldon was a 46 year member of Washington Masonic Lodge #36. He was also a member of Leighton O.E.S. #239, and a member of Washington Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 64 and a half years, Mavis Morris Burney ; children, Vince (Deanna) Burney and Teresa Burney; grandchildren, Joseph "Red" Burney, Becky (Micheal) Lathan, Drew (Tori) Green, Justin Green, and Abbie (Ashley) Green; great-grandchildren, Weston Burney, Graydon Fike, Wesley Green, Gabby Fike, Karsyn Burney, Jessa Latham, Kohn Green, Ellie Green, Addie Green, and Hayden Green; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, T.M. and Cora Sue Burney; brothers, Arlen Burney, Darriel Burney, and Murphy Burney.

Born on November 18, 1933, to Kyle and Grace Lowry Masterson, Luther owned and operated Masterson Exxon for 34 years until his retirement in October 2007, where he served and befriended thousands of community members. He was a member of Hatton Masonic Lodge #879 for over 60 years. Luther was loved and respected by all who met him, and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jean Masterson; children, Terry Masterson, Jeff (Ginger) Flannagin, and Dexter (Rhonda) Flannagin; grandchildren, Chad (Katie) Flannagin, Brooke (Joseph) Simmons, Kinley (Tye Roberson) Flannagin, Kaitlin (Bradley) Smith, and Emily Porter; fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Steven (Dean) Masterson and Dwight Masterson; sister-in-law, Brenda (Neil) Mutchler; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
