Karen Faye Fitzgerald, age 80 of Trinity, Alabama passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born August 11, 1945 to Russell Clay and Verna Ruth Phipps.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Moulton Heritage Funeral Home in Moulton, where the service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Hartselle City Cemetery in Hartselle, Alabama. Pastor Wayne Dotson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tyler Peoples, Tyler Lane, Jarryd Donald, Danny Knighten, Riley Thomas Morris, and Dwight Sparks. Honorary pallbearer will be Kannon Hill.

Karen was survived by her son, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Hill; daughter, Connie (Don) Stover; grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Stephanie, Andrea, Michelle, Mark, Erica, Heather, Kannon; and several greatgrandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her late husband's Warren Fitzgerald, Willard Thomas Hill; grandson, Matthew Thomas Hill.

The Family would like to extend a special thanks to Aveana Hospice for their wonderful care during this time. The family would also like to thank Danny Knighten, Tammy Knighten for all of their help with everything for everyday within the past year.

Carolyn Sue Payne, age 76, of Moulton, Alabama, passed away on February 18, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 29, 1949, to Joe and Katie Frankie Payne. Carolyn enjoyed watching Alabama football and was known to be an avid fan. She spent most of her time watching her grandchildren play sports, always being their biggest supporter. She also enjoyed butter pecan ice cream.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Moulton Heritage Funeral Home in Moulton, Alabama. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m.

Carolyn is survived by her sons, Earl Fossett, Charles Hutcheson, and Bruce Box; daughter, Suzan (Scott) Wallace; grandchildren, Benjamin (Cameron) Fossett, Andrea (Kevin) Shultz, Anthony Fossett, and Lauryn (Drew) Wallace; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Jo Ann Carter, Margaret (Carl) Harper, and Flossie (Junior) Box; and brother, Tom Payne.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Katie Frankie Payne; brothers, Bradley Payne, James C. Payne, and Charles Payne; and sister, Malbalean Kirby.

Benny Joe Abbott, age 67, of Mt. Hope, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama.

Benny was born October 28, 1958, to Clyde Aaron and Elizabeth Wilburn Abbott. He was a loving father, brother, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Moulton Heritage Funeral Home in Moulton, where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m.

Benny is survived by his son, Benjamin (Kristy) Abbott; brother, Ardell (Shirley) Abbott; grandchildren, Brionna Abbott, Brittany Abbott, and Brandon Abbott; great-grandchildren, Cooper Labraney and Salem Labraney; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Abbott; brothers, Floyd Abbott and Loyd Abbott (Tooter); and his parents, Clyde and Elizabeth Abbott.

James Glenn Holland, age 84 of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

He was born July 11, 1941 to Burns and Velma Holland. James was a devoted family man and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a skilled welder who took great pride in his work and found joy in the outdoors. James will be remembered for his selflessness, generosity, and the steady presence he brought to those who loved him.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Moulton Heritage Funeral Home, where the service will be held Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Will Norman, Alex Tuder, Jamie Martin, Josh Cyr, Dakotah Garnett, and Kolby Cyr. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Garnett and Jensen Cyr.

This obituary was beautifully written by Katie's family:

Antionette Kay Rackley, affectionally known as "Katie" was born on May 7, 1964 to Sam and Jeanette Dotson. She was the best mother, grandmother, wife, and sister. She was welcomed into the loving arms of her savior, Jesus Christ, on February 17, 2026 surrounded by her family at home. She fought a valiant battle and is finally receiving her riches of a life well lived.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Same and Jeanette Dotson; sisters, Melissa Calloway of Florida and Janie George of Arizona; and brother, Rickey Dotson of Decatur. We know they were all waiting for her with open arms.

She is survived by her husband of over 20 years, Jimmy Rackley; two daughters, Kristal Martin (Jack) of Trinity and Ashley Miller (Robert) of Arab; three sons, Justin Gower of Decatur, Steven Gower of Decatur, and Coty Lackey of Moulton; two brothers, Doyle Dotson (Sue) of Booneville, MS. and Shane Dotson (Tammy) of Hartselle; two sisters, Cindi Adams (Gary) of Moulton and Ethel Hayes of Oregon; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved, to say the least.

A special thank you goes out to Gail King, Katie's round the clock caregiver for the last several weeks, and Hospice of North Alabama, especially Bridgette Hood.

Our mother was a selfless, kind, extraordinary woman with an exceptional faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There is no doubt in our mind that she is rejoicing in the streets of gold today and forevermore. She meant the world to her entire family, and we'll spend the rest of our life missing her until we see her again.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Moulton Heritage Funeral Home, where the service will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Midway Memorial Gardens in Trinity. Brother Nathaniel Sherill will officiate.

Johnny Lynn Tidwell, age 62 of Town Creek, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026 at UAB in Birmingham.

He was born May 22, 1963 to J.T. and Opal Jean Tidwell. Johnny had a great sense of humor, he was known to be a little stubborn. He was a hard worker and a talented pipe fitter, "The best on this side of the river" some would say. Johnny loved his kids, grandkids, dogs and horses, and enjoyed riding motorcycles.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Moulton Heritage Funeral Home in Moulton, where the service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Donald Cemetery in Town Creek. Brother Scotty Letson will officiate.

Nathan David Atkinson, age 54, of Florence, Alabama, passed away on January 23, 2026, at his residence.

Nathan was born on March 7, 1971, to Nathan Clint Atkinson and Rita Woods Atkinson. He was a man who found true happiness in the outdoors. Whether bow hunting, deer hunting, or simply spending quiet time in the woods, Nathan felt most at peace when surrounded by nature. He appreciated the stillness, the fresh air, and the sense of freedom that came from being outdoors.

No services will be held at this time.

Nathan is survived by his loving wife, Sarafina Atkinson, and his father, Nathan Clint Atkinson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Woods Atkinson, and two sisters.

Janice Marie Borden, age 61, of Moulton, Alabama, passed away on January 24, 2026, at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

She was born on June 3, 1964, to Charles and Martha Borden. Janice was known for her deep love of Coca-Cola and the Tasmanian Devil, passions that shaped both her personality and her home. She also loved shopping and had a special talent for finding just the right item at just the right moment. Over the years, she built a large and carefully curated collection of memorabilia, each piece telling a story and holding special meaning. She deeply loved her grandchildren and her family, who brought her immense joy and happiness throughout her life. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and she took pride in sharing her collection and the joy it brought her with everyone around her.

A memorial service will be held at a later time.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Jasmine (Wade) Knopp; son, Lucas “Luke” (Timber) Bearden; grandchildren, Bray Terry, Abel Terry, Aumni Terry, Jonathan Parris, and Brooklynn Campbell; sister, Angela (Jimmy) Terry; and brother, Charles “Chuck” Borden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Borden and Lorraine Borden (Hurshel LouAllen); her brother, Ronnie Borden; Luke’s father, Dale Bearden; and her grandparents.

He was born April 3, 1947 to Robert Johnston and Martha (Wes) Eaton.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed watching Nascar and Alabama Football. In his early years, he enjoyed boating out on the lake. Robert loved being around his grandchildren.

Joseph Leamon Bolan, age 85 of Moulton, passed away January 14, 2026 at Princeton Hospital in Birmingham.

He was born September 23, 1940, to James Henry and Francis Elizabeth Weaver Bolan Johnson. Leamon was a devoted family man whose love for his family and his faithful dog defined his life. Selfless by nature, he always put the needs of others before his own, never hesitating to lend a hand or offer support. He found joy in the simple things—squirrel hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes, moments when he felt most at peace. Above all else, his grandchildren were his greatest hobby and his proudest joy; nothing made him happier than time spent with them. Known for his great sense of humor, he could always bring a smile or laughter to those around him. His kindness, laughter, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held Sunday January 18, 2026, starting at 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Moulton Heritage Funeral Home where a service will be held at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Moulton City Cemetery, Moulton, Alabama. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

She was born February 21, 1939 to Wilber and Lawilda Leisure Poore. Betty was a hard-working woman who took pride in everything she did. In her time off, she found peace and joy tending to her flower beds, where her love for nature truly shined. She cherished her family deeply and treasured every moment spent with them. She also loved to fish, enjoying the quiet and comfort it brought her. Above all, she was a devoted Christian whose faith guided her life and the way she loved others.
